What does the Bible say about tribulation?

Answered in 11 sources

The Bible acknowledges tribulation as a reality of life, as seen in John 16:33, where Jesus assures us we will face trials but encourages us with His victory.

In John 16:33, Jesus states, 'You will have tribulation in this world.' This acknowledgment of tribulation serves as a reminder that suffering is an intrinsic part of the Christian experience. The concept of tribulation is rooted in the idea of separation, much like the process of threshing wheat, where the valuable wheat is separated from the useless chaff. God uses tribulation not to destroy us, but to refine us and draw out what is good and heavenly within us, while purging away the earthy and sinful aspects of our nature. Through suffering, we are often brought to a deeper understanding of God's grace and mercy, preparing us for the fullness of His love.
