What is the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer?

Answered in 6 sources

The Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to believers, assuring them of their peace and guiding them towards spiritual maturity.

In the context of our salvation and ongoing sanctification, the Holy Spirit plays a vital role. He applies the righteousness of Christ to us, assuring our hearts that we are justified and reconciled to God. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Christians receive comfort, guidance, and the empowerment to live according to God's will. The Spirit also produces spiritual fruit in our lives, which is evidence of our transformation and growth in Christ. Romans 5:5 states, 'And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost, which is given unto us,' highlighting the Spirit's work in affirming God's love within us.
