What is the significance of Christ as our High Priest?

Answered in 5 sources

Christ, as our High Priest, represents the ultimate fulfillment of the sacrificial system, offering Himself once for all for the sins of His people.

The significance of Christ as our High Priest lies in His unique role as the perfect mediator between God and humanity. Unlike the priests of the old covenant, who had to continually offer sacrifices for their own sins and the sins of the people, Christ offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice—once for all—making atonement for sin (Hebrews 7:27). His sacrificial offering and resurrection secure eternal redemption for His elect, highlighting the sufficiency and finality of His work. Moreover, as the eternal High Priest, He intercedes for believers before the Father, ensuring their continual access to His grace and mercy.
