1. Luke chapter 1. Let's read one
verse. The first verse. Luke 1, 1. Forasmuch
as many have taken in hand to set forth, to set forth in order. God is a God of order. He's not
the God of confusion. We set in order a declaration
Preaching the gospel is a declaration. Those things we have seen and
heard, we declare unto you, that you might have fellowship with
us, and with God Almighty, and with the Lord Jesus Christ. That's
what we studied this morning in 1 John chapter 1. We set forth
in order a declaration of those things which are most surely
believed among believers, among us. What are the things that
are most surely believed among us? Now, today we come back again
to this first verse and the title of the message, Things Most Surely
Believed, Part 2. Part 2. Part 1 is out there on
the table. What do believers believe? What do believers most surely
believe? Everything written in the Word
of God. Believers believe the Word of
God. Don't turn, but let me just remind
you what we read earlier. In Acts chapter 24, verse 14,
the apostles said, This I confess unto thee, that the way which
they call heresy, So worship I the God of my fathers, the
God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, believing all
things which are written in the law of God." The law of God tells
us about who? The Lord Jesus Christ. You remember
the Lord said, Moses wrote about me. Had you believed Moses, you
would have believed me because Moses wrote about me. bleeding
all things that are written in the law of God and the prophets."
What did the prophets write about? You remember in Acts chapter
10, "...to Him give all the prophets witness." Isaiah's message was
Christ, the Lamb. Jeremiah's message was Christ,
the Lord, our righteousness, and all the prophets give witness
to the Lord Jesus Christ. When we preach the gospel of
Christ, we set forth those things that every believer believes. Believers do not pick and choose,
not like a menu. We went out to eat last night,
and they had a menu, and we would pick and choose what we wanted
to eat. This book is not like a menu. You don't just pick and
choose certain things. Well, I'm going to believe this
and not believe that. Believers believe everything in the Word
of God. Everything. We most surely believe
the things of God. You cannot be a believer and
reject the Word of God. You cannot be a believer and
reject the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and call yourself,
well, I'm a believer, but there are certain things in the book
I don't believe. Now, wait a minute. That's a contradiction, isn't
it? If you're a believer, you believe God. Well, how important
is that? Abraham believed God, it was
counted to him for righteousness. I'd say it's pretty important
to believe God. Now, what are the things that
believers believe? Now, to try to put this in a
way in a sermon outline, and I have given both of these outlines
to you before. There are two outlines that I
could use to approach this subject, what believers believe. And I'll give you just a brief
description of the first one, and we've been over this many
times. What do believers believe? Tulip. Tulip, what in the world
are you talking about? T-U-L-I-P. There's a brochure
out there on the table if you want to know what TULIP stands
for. But let me give it to you here. What do believers believe? What does the T stand for in
TULIP? This book teaches that sinners,
that we are, are totally depraved, totally evil, totally wicked. Now you really don't believe
in total depravity unless you believe that's you. There's none righteous, no not
one. Do you think that way about yourself?
There is none righteous, no not one. Believers are totally depraved. How did we get that way? I was
born that way. My son that came out of my loins
was born that way. I was born that way and it goes
all the way back to Adam. In Adam, all died. In Adam, all
sinned. Do you see yourself as a sinner
before God? That's what this book teaches.
What do believers believe? They believe they're sinners.
Never graduate above being a sinner. If you do, you're in trouble,
big trouble. What does the U stand for in
TULIP? What do believers believe? They
believe that God from all eternity elected a people unto salvation. The U stands for unconditional
election. God, from all eternity, chose
a people unto salvation. That's what the book teaches.
We are bound to thank God for you, brethren, beloved of the
Lord, because God has, from the beginning, chosen a people unto
salvation. We call that the Bible doctrine
of election. God made a choice, from all eternity,
who would be just like Christ. And He predestinated them to
be conformed to the image of Christ. You cannot be a believer
and reject the God of election. Can you? And call yourself a
believer? You see, the Bible is not like
a menu. You don't pick and choose. You
either believe God or you don't. We believe this book teaches
God elected a people unto salvation, and He did so from all eternity.
And then T-U-L, what does L in the tulip stand for? It stands
for what this book teaches, and this is what believers believe
about the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. The L stands for
limited atonement. The Lord Jesus Christ made particular
redemption, definite atonement for His people. It is not true that the Lord
Jesus Christ died for all of the sins of all men. That is
not taught in this book anywhere at all. If you believe the Lord
Jesus Christ died and some folks wind up in hell anyway, that
makes his atonement a failure, doesn't it? He cannot fail because
he is God. This book teaches the definite
atonement, the limited atonement, Not limited in its power, but
limited in its scope. The Lord Jesus Christ laid down
his life for his sheep. That's what the book teaches.
And you know what? That's what believers believe.
Right? Christ is a successful Savior.
T-U-L-I. What does the I stand for? Irresistible
Grace. You see, God doesn't try to save
sinners, He saves sinners. Well, God's trying to save you,
but you won't let Him. That's not the God I read about
in Scripture. God said, I've spoken it. I'll
bring it to pass. I've purposed it. I'll do it.
That's the God of Scripture. What do believers believe? They
believe everything revealed in the Word of God about who God
is that He irresistibly calls sinners from death unto life. You hath He quickened who were
dead in trespasses and in sin. Our Lord said, No man can come
to Me except My Father which sent Me. Draw him. And I'll raise
him up at the last day. T-U-L-I-P. Tulip. Tulip. Irresistible call of the gospel. He calls us out of darkness into
his marvelous light that we should show forth the praises of God.
And then what does a P stand for? Perseverance. Preservation. God said, I will be their God
and they shall be my people. I will keep them and they shall
not depart from me. You see, the saints of God, because
they've been given life in Christ and because they are kept by
the power of God, they persevere in faith. These are the things
that believers believe. These are the things that the
church of the Lord Jesus Christ had been declaring long time. Abraham believed these things.
Moses believed these things. That's right. Isaiah, Jeremiah,
all the prophets, all the apostles, they all preached. T-U-L-I-P. Believers are kept by the power
of God. They persevere in faith. These are the things that believers
most surely believe. Now, if you want an amplification
on those things, there's a bulletin or a brochure out front or a
gospel track, if you will, out front, if you want it in print. Or you
can go to our sermon audio website and find a sermon entitled TULIP. But I'm not going to spend the
rest of the time on TULIP, although I could very easily. But instead,
I have chosen to use this outline, and I've given this outline to
you before. You remember the five alones? The five alones. These five alones were the five
alones from what we call the Reformation period back 500 years
ago. I'll give them to you in just
a minute. Just be patient. Back 500 years ago, all of you
have studied in college or in high school a study of religious
history, and you always study the Reformation, don't you? They
probably don't teach that anymore, but If you take in college a
comparative religion class, you'll be confronted with Calvinism
or Arminianism, those two camps of theology. But anyhow, back
500 years ago, there was a religious revival that spread through Europe. It was called the Great Awakening.
It was called the Reformation. Among many who were in the established
religion of the day, there was a great sweeping revival. In Europe at this time, 500 years
ago, the European countries were dominated by Roman Catholicism. That was the prevailing religion
of the day that had a death grip on the people. They couldn't
go anywhere, do anything. It was much like Judaism in the
days the Lord walked among men there in Judea. The Jews had
a stranglehold upon the people. And the Roman Catholic people
had a strangle upon the people in their day back in 1520. 1520. It was known, it was called
the Reformation. Now you remember some of the
leaders of the Reformation that came out of Roman Catholicism? There was a monk by the name,
a Catholic monk by the name of Martin Luther. And the Lord taught
him the Gospel. The just shall live by faith. He was trying to seek salvation
by rituals and deeds and works and all these different ceremonies.
And the Lord kept thundering from the Word of God that's written
four times, The just shall live by faith. The just shall live
by faith. And the Lord taught him the Gospel.
And he took a stand for the Gospel. And it almost cost him his life. They put him on trial, told him
to denounce his writings, and he said, here I stand. I can
do no other. If you want to take my life,
take it. I will not. They told him, you
recant or die. Deny what you've written or die. He said, I can't. I believe the
things of God. I believe God, therefore I can. recant, deny the Lord." His name
was Martin Luther. Another man that was very prevailing
in that time, a very well-known theologian who lived in Switzerland,
Martin Luther was a German. The other man was known by the
name of John Calvin. That's where we get the term
Calvinism, from John Calvin. He was the father of the Presbyterian
Reformation. Both of these men stood for and
preached salvation by the grace of God alone, through the blood
sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ alone, righteousness in the Lord
Jesus Christ alone. From that Reformation, there
was a five-fold theme that dominated that movement. I'm going to call
it a revival because that's what it was in that day. Those five
alones. You remember what they were?
You can jot them down if you want to, or you can go back and
listen to this message on Sermon Audio, or get the CD. It will
be available next week. The Scriptures alone. The Scriptures
alone. Christ alone. Grace alone. Faith alone to the glory of God
alone. The five alones. You remember
them? When my father, my dad, your granddaddy, when he passed
away back in 2003, and my father, my dad, grew up in religion. converted to Mormonism back in
the 1940s, and was a very self-righteous, self-serving man, didn't know
the gospel, did not believe the gospel. But when he passed away,
my family invited me to speak at his funeral, and I stood in
a Mormon chapel, in a pulpit similar to this, and I preached
those five alums. Some of you may have remembered.
When I came back from that funeral, I preached that message here.
And you know what? Those folks got real mad at me.
Some of my family to this day won't even speak to me. My mother's
sister, my aunt, Aunt She came up to me afterward and pointed
her finger right straight in my face and said, ìYouíre going
to hell.î I said, ìWell, thank you. I appreciate that.î You
see, people want the scriptures plus something else. People want
salvation, but Christ plus something else. You see, it's, oh, it's
Christ and circumcision. It's Christ and my works. It's Christ and what I bring,
or my church membership, or my baptism. You see, these old reformers
said, no, it's Christ only. And they were willing to die
for it. And many of them did. You know what the Catholics did
to those reformers? They tied them up to a stake,
piled straw around their feet, and burned them to the stake.
Why? Because they were upset. These
men preached Christ alone. They preached grace alone. Not works, not grace plus what
you bring. Grace alone. Salvation by grace
alone. They preached faith alone. to
the glory of God alone. Now, let's go over those five
things. The Scriptures alone. The Scriptures alone. Believers
receive the whole record of Scripture. Genesis to the Revelation. All Scripture is given of God.
And believers believe we read this Word. How do you read this
Word? This is the Word of God. This is the Book of God. Every
word is God-breathed, God-inspired, and God-given. God-used men,
holy men of old, spake as they were moved and driven by God
the Holy Spirit. This book you hold in your lap,
we call the Bible, is a special book. It is a spiritual book
that tells us about how God saves sinners. All Scripture is given
by inspiration of God. God inspired. We read the Word
as such. We hear it as such. We believe
it as such. All things that are taught in
the Word of God, we believe. Now let me give you an example. Find 1 Thessalonians chapter
2. 1 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse
13. It says, "...for this cause also
thank we God..." 1 Thessalonians 2 verse 13, "...when you received
the Word of God, which you heard of us, you received it not as
the Word of men, but as it is in truth the Word of God, that
effectually works in you that believe." What do believers believe? The Scriptures alone. The Word
of God alone. We're told by the Apostle Paul
to preach the Word. Preach the Word. Preach what
God has already written. And that's what preaching is.
David wrote in the Psalms, by inspiration, through thy precepts,
through thy word I get understanding, therefore I hate every false
way. You see, it's the Scriptures
alone that we believe, that we preach, that we receive, that
we meditate upon, that we have hope in. The Scriptures alone
are our only rule of faith and practice. the Old Confession
say, the London and the Philadelphia Confession. We seek not to counsel
or advise from any man, ruling or governing body of man. It's the scriptures alone that
we preach, like the Noble Bereans that Luke writes about in Acts
17.11, These Bereans went out and searched
the Scriptures to see if these things be so. Now, anything I
preach from this pulpit, you take the Word of God and you
go home and search it out for yourself and see if these things
aren't so. Take the Word and see if what
the Word teaches about total depravity, about God's electing
love, electing grace, about the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It's found in the Word of God alone. Now, take the book of
Luke. Hold your place there in Luke
1 and turn to Luke 24. What does the Word teach us?
It teaches us Christ. of the Savior, the Lord Jesus
Christ. See, all the book of God is given
to us, turn to Luke 24. Verse 25, Then he said unto them,
O fools, slow of heart to believe all things that the prophets
have spoken. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things,
and enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses, the Lord
Jesus, and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all
the Scriptures the thing concerning Himself. All the Scriptures are
all about Christ Himself. Luke 24, Look at verse 44. He said unto them, These are
the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law
of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning
me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the
Scriptures. When we understand the Scriptures,
you know what? We see salvation accomplished
by Christ alone. Christ alone. This book is all
about the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord said to those religious
people, you search the Scriptures and in them you think you have
eternal life, they are they which testify of Me. Believers, now
listen to me. Believers never question whether
or not this is God's Word. Don't go there. If you're a believer,
you believe This book is God's book, specially given, specially
preserved to teach us Christ, to show us Christ. You see, faith
comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. It's in the
Word of Scripture that we find out who God is. God is not who
we think He is. He's who He is as He's revealed
in this book. And we can spend the rest of
the morning talking about the scriptures, how they describe
God as holy, sovereign in all things, majestic, almighty, powerful. He is God and He is sovereign. The Word of God teaches us who
God is. The Word of God teaches us who
we are. We're just the opposite. We are
weak, He is mighty. He is holy, we are sinful. He is infinite, we're finite. He is everlasting, we're not. We are temporal creatures here. And the Word of God teaches us
what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. Accomplished all
salvation. Now that's point number one.
The Scriptures alone. That's why we preach what we
preach from this book, the Scripture alone. The second point is this. The gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ is all about Christ alone. Salvation is in Christ alone. He is the only Savior of sinners. He alone saves sinners by His
power and salvation is found in Him. Now, I've often said
this, and here's a good scripture that Luke tells us about. Turn
to Luke chapter 2. Salvation is in a person. Salvation
is not in a church. Not in church. I don't care what
church you call it. I don't care what name it has.
Church of God, Church of Christ, this church, that church, the
other church. Salvation is not in a church. Salvation is in
a person. the Lord Jesus Christ. That's
what this old preacher rejoiced in. His name was Simeon. Read
about it in Luke chapter 2 verse 25. And behold, there was a man
in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. The same man was just and devout,
waiting for the consolation, the salvation of Israel. And
the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him
by the Holy Ghost that he should not see death before he had seen
the Lord Christ. before he'd seen Christ, the
Lord's Christ, the anointed Messiah. And he came by the Spirit into
the temple. And when the parents brought
in the child, Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
on the eighth day, the child was officially named and officially
circumcised. We're going to read about that
over in this same book in Luke chapter 2. Then he took up this
babe, eight-day-old baby, and blessed God and said, Lord, now
let us thy servant depart in peace according to thy word,
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation." Now he's looking in the eyes
in the face of an eight-day-old baby. It's not that long. And
God said, you're not going to die until you see my salvation. And he picked that baby up and
said, Lord, thank you. Let me die. I'm ready to die.
I've seen the Savior. You see, salvation is in a person. In a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is not in a position.
You can take your position and perish. Salvation is not in a
persuasion. You can have your persuasion
and perish. Salvation is not in a pool of water. You can be
baptized many times and never know the Savior. Salvation is
in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. When Peter and John stood before
those Pharisees and they wanted to know in whose name that this
crippled man was healed. Remember what they said? Be it
known unto you this day that this man is made whole by the
power of God through the Lord Jesus Christ. And oh, by the
way, there is salvation in no other. For there is no other
name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."
You see, Christ alone is salvation. Christ alone is salvation. Salvation is being found in Him.
by God's purpose, by God's power, by God's given faith. That's
why the Apostle Paul in Philippians chapter 3 said, I count everything
else ruined, dung, loss, garbage, that I may win Christ and be
found in Him. You see salvation in Him. It's looking to Him. The Lord
said, look unto Me and be ye saved. Looking unto Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith. Now, two things I must have as
a sinner to stand before God. Justified. Accepted. We're only
accepted in the Beloved. I need a justifying righteousness
before God, which I cannot produce. I also need a Redeemer to put
away my sin, because I can't make atonement for my own sin. You can't either. You cannot
earn or produce a righteousness of your own, nor can you put
away sin by anything you do. But the Lord Jesus Christ has
done all things for us. The Lord Jesus Christ, He is
my righteousness before God. See, I have a justifying righteousness. It's in Christ. He is the Lord,
our righteousness. He's made unto me wisdom and
righteousness. And I also need a sufficient
appointed Redeemer to put away my sin." And that's what the
Lord Jesus Christ had done. He redeemed us with His own precious
blood, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness
of sin, according to the riches of His grace. You see, believers
believe Scripture alone. They believe salvation in Christ
alone. He accomplishes salvation by
the sacrifice of himself. It's not this thing me and Jesus
got a good thing going. It's not Jesus is my co-pilot.
I mean, that's just nonsense. That's just absolute nonsense. He's not co-anything, but co-equal
with the Father. He's not my kopiah. He's my God. He's my Savior. That's what Thomas
confessed, wasn't it? My Lord and my God. You see,
the Lord Jesus Christ alone. It's not me and Jesus. It's Christ
alone. Saving faith looks not in here,
looks to Christ. That's why saving faith is precious. We'll get to that in just a minute.
Thirdly, thirdly, the grace of God alone. Salvation is by the
grace of God alone. Salvation by grace alone. When
we talk about grace, We mean by that the biblical definition
of grace. God's unmerited sovereign favor
toward His own. When we talk about grace, we
mean sovereign grace. That's the only kind of grace
there is. It's sovereign grace. God said, I will have mercy on
whom I will have mercy. So then it's not of him that
willeth, nor of him that runneth, but it's God that showeth mercy.
He worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. Man's
will is not free. Not if you believe in total depravity.
Even if you don't believe in total depravity, your will is
still not free. It's in bondage to your sin. That's why we believe and teach,
as this book does, total depravity. Salvation is by the will of God.
Salvation is by the grace of God. It's God who saved us and
called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but
according to His own purpose and grace, given us in Christ
before the foundation of the world, 2 Timothy 1.9, being justified
freely by His grace. As we work our way through the
gospel written by Luke, we're going to see in our study a sovereign
display of the Lord having mercy on whom He will. The Lord passed
many by, leaving them to perish in their sin, and crossed the
path of others, and had mercy on them." Did you ever notice
that? Sometimes He walked clear through
a city to another city to find one woman or one man and had
mercy on that one sinner, and He passed the whole city by.
Why did He do that? because He is sovereign in salvation. He will have mercy on whom He
will have mercy. Turn there to the book of Luke
chapter 4. Let me show you a very stark
example of sovereign mercy. When the Lord went to His hometown
of Nazareth, and He preached the gospel message to them from
Isaiah chapter 61, the Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, verse 18, because He anointed me to preach the gospel to the
poor. He sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captive, recovering of sight to the blind, to set at
liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year
of the Lord. He closed the book, gave it to the minister, and
said, Out! The eyes of all of them in the synagogue were fastened
upon Him. Verse 21, He said, This day is
the Scripture fulfilled in your ears. What was fulfilled? the
scripture alone. Now, look down at verse 25, verse
26, and verse 27, and here we see the Lord Jesus Christ preaching
sovereignty and salvation. Verse 25, "...I tell you the
truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah,
when the heavens were shut up three years and six months, and
there was a great famine. Unto none of them was Elijah
sent save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, to a woman that was
a widow. He passed many by in Israel,
and picked out a Gentile dog, and had mercy on her." You see
the sovereignty of God in salvation? Verse 27, "...there were many
lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none
of them were cleansed save Naaman the Syrian." He passed by many
in Israel, and he caused Naaman, you can read about it in 2 Kings,
to come all the way down to meet Elisha, and God had mercy on
that one sinner. You say, well everybody would
say, well amen, hallelujah, praise the Lord, You know what happened
in the synagogue that day? Those religious folks got so
mad. Look at verse 28, Luke 4, And
all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were
filled with wrath. Oh, wait a minute, what happened?
What happened? I thought everybody loved God.
What's going on here? You see, they met the God of
elections. And they got mad. You see, salvation
was taken. They thought salvation was in
their hand, and the Lord said, salvation is not in your hand,
it's in My hand. He doeth according to His will
in the army of heaven among the heavens of this earth, and none
can stay His hand or stand Him. Lord God Almighty, what doest
Thou? And you know they tried to kill Him? Look at verse 29. and rose up
and thrust him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the
hill whereon the city was built, that they might cast him down
headlong." Wow! I mean, they were so angry, they
committed murder in their heart. And they were going to do the
deed as well. Why did they get so mad? They heard what he said. God will have mercy on whom he
will have mercy. You see, it's grace alone. It's
faith alone. It's mercy alone. God passed
many publicans by and called Matthew, called Zacchaeus, left
the rest of them to perish in their sin. Why do you do that?
Because it pleased Him to do so. You see, these are the things
that we surely believe. Do you find yourself believing
these things? Believers do. The fourth one is this, faith
alone, faith alone, faith alone. Four times in the Word of God,
it says, the just shall live by faith. Now what do we mean
by salvation by faith alone? That is, salvation is received
by faith alone. Your personal work, merit or
effort, has nothing to do with the accomplishment of salvation.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing. The just shall live by faith.
Salvation is received by God's given precious faith. Without
faith, the faith of God's elect we're talking about. By the way,
the faith of God's elect, do you know what it does? It acknowledges
the truth. Titus 1.1. Without faith, it
is impossible to please God. The man without faith is a man
without Christ. For by grace are you saved through
faith, and that not of yourself, it is a gift of God. We're gonna
see in our study through the book of Luke, how many times
the Lord says, go in peace, thy faith hath made thee whole. Many
times, we're gonna see this, many times. You see, it's faith
alone. Now, why did the Lord make salvation
to be received by faith alone? You know why? It gets to my next
point, His glory. You see, Abraham was strong in
faith, giving glory unto God, being fully persuaded of all
that God had promised he's able to do. You see, saving faith
glorifies God by believing Him, believing all the Word of God.
Now, that puts me down to my fifth point, and lastly, salvation
is to this end and to this purpose The glory of God alone. The glory of God alone. Now,
you say, well, man, I think, you know, I've been a preacher
for 30 years. I've preached thousands of sermons.
I've seen some people that I've preached to. I've seen the Lord
save those people. Certainly, I can glory in something,
can't I? Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. You remember what Paul said?
God forbid Paul could have gloried in some things, couldn't he?
He was taken to the third heaven. Paul was an apostle, mighty preacher
of the gospel. But you know what he said? God
forbid that I should glory save in the cross of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Christ alone, faith alone, grace
alone, to the glory of God alone. God has so fixed salvation. that salvation is by the glory
of God to the glory of God alone. Now look at Luke chapter 2 verse
13, when the angel appeared to the shepherds in the field and
said unto you, this day in the city of David is born a Savior,
Christ the Lord. And you'll find the babe wrapped
in sparkling clothes. Luke chapter 2 verse 13, and
suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts
praising God, saying, Glory to God in the highest, in the earth, in the highest,
on earth, peace, goodwill toward men, not man. There is one God
and one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus. You see, now and forever, believers
only glory in the Lord Jesus Christ. But if him, or you in
Christ, who God has made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification,
and redemption, that according as it is written, It gets right
back to the Word, doesn't it? He that would glory, let him
glory in the Lord. And that's from Jeremiah 9, 23. But not the wise man glory in
the wisdom, but not the rich man glory in his riches. But
let him glory in me, that he knows me, that I am God. You
see, this is a sum of what things we most surely believe. Salvation
is by grace alone, in Christ alone, through faith alone, based
totally on the revelation of Holy Scripture alone, and completely
to the glory of God alone. Now what do you say to that?
I know what I say, Amen. Amen. If you are a believer of the
gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, you know what you have to say
in your heart? Amen. It is so. It is so. Amen.
