All right, Psalm 18 this evening. I've entitled the message for
us this evening simply, The Lord is Our Rock. The Lord is our
rock. This is true of our blessed God
and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the rock of ages. We sing that psalm. Rock of ages,
cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee. The Lord Jesus Christ
is the sure and only foundation upon which any sinner can find
rest. Find salvation. This is a foundation
that God has laid for us in Zion that say, sure, tried, precious,
cornerstone. This foundation, the Apostle
Paul said, other foundation can no man lay than that which is
already laid. Christ is that foundation. He is the rock. That's what David
praises the Lord and declares, the Lord is my rock. The Lord is my... salvation. The Lord is my strength. Now, notice in Psalm 18 there,
there is a pretty lengthy title. You remember in Psalm 17, it
simply says there, a prayer of David. But here in Psalm 18,
it gives us a little more information about some of the details of
Psalm 18. It says, the Psalm of David,
the servant of the Lord, who spake unto the Lord the words
of this psalm. Now, when I read that, here's
what caught my attention. David is God's king. David was
the anointed king of Israel for 40 years, but when he writes
this inscription and this title of this psalm, he doesn't say,
and he doesn't even mention the fact that I am God's king. Rather, he says here, David the,
not the king of the Lord, David the servant of the Lord, the
servant of the Lord. Now, this is very similar to
what the Apostle Paul often said when he penned those epistles. In Romans 1, for example, we
read about Paul, the servant of the Lord, the servant of the
Lord. Did you ever realize that being a servant of the Lord is
a very high title? It's a high title. It's a great
honor to be a servant of the Lord. I'm thinking of a scripture
over in Isaiah 42, where it describes the Lord Jesus Christ, and God
says of him, behold, my servant. my elect, and whom my soul delighteth."
And then in Isaiah 53, the Lord Jesus Christ is called the Righteous
Servant. So it is a high honor to be called
the Servant of the Lord. That's why David says here, I'm
the Lord's Servant. I'm God's Servant, the Servant
of the Lord. It is a great privilege to serve
this Lord and Savior, the one whom we love, the one who died
to secure our salvation, the servant of the Lord. Now, this
psalm has 50 verses. As I said earlier, we're not
going to use all the verses and do a verse-by-verse study throughout
this psalm, but I do want to use this psalm to declare three
things, and this will serve as our outline. The first thing
we see in this psalm are the characteristics or attributes
of our great God. The great God in whom we serve.
The great God in whom we worship. The characteristics of a person
describes who the person is. And we have a good, fit description
of the Lord Jesus Christ, our God and our Savior, given here
in Psalm 18. Then the second thing I want
to consider is this. His great deliverance for us. Did you notice
how many times when Brother Tony was reading through that psalm,
how many times he talks about He will deliver, He has delivered. And then he says, we have great
deliverances through the Lord. So, His great deliverance for
us. And then thirdly, our thanksgiving
unto Him. our thanksgiving unto him. It
says in verse 49, therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord. That sums up the life of the
believer. He has a heart of thanksgiving, a heart of rejoicing and singing
unto the Lord. Now, let's look at some of these
things that I've just mentioned. First of all, the characteristics
of our Lord. the characteristics or attributes
of the God that we worship, the God that we serve. You know,
in the Word of God, it says that there is none like our God. He said, I'm God. Beside me,
there is no other. There is none like our God. Well, what's he like? Are we
just left to our imagination as to the description of the
characteristics of our God? No, this whole book is given
to us to describe who God is. There's none like Him. What's
He like? He's the almighty God. He's the
eternal God. He is the holy God. He is God
who is the absolute God. Now our Lord is made unto us
all that we need, in the Lord Jesus Christ dwells all the fullness
of a Godhead bodily, and in Christ Jesus the believer stands complete,
complete in Him. Now let's look at some of these
characteristics that we read about in Psalm 18 here, verse
1 says here, O Lord my strength. The God in whom we love, the
God in whom we trust, the God in whom we worship, He is the
almighty God. He's our strength. Over in verse
29, turn over there. David says, for by thee have
I run or broken through an army, through a troop. By my God, I've
leaped over a wall. Look at verse 32. It is God that
girdeth me with strength. He makes my way perfect. He teaches my hands to war. See verse 34, so that a bow of
steel is broken by my arms. He's my strength. He makes my
way perfect. Perfect. He's our strength. Turn
over here to Psalm 46 verse 1. Psalm 46 verse 1. It says in Psalm 18 verse 39,
Thou hast girded me with strength. He's our strong God. Nothing
weak about our God. Everything about our God is great
and glorious. Psalm 46 verse 1, God is our
refuge and strength of every present help in trouble. will
not we fear, though the earth be removed, though the mountains
be carried into the midst of the sea." God is our strength.
He has all power. He has all authority in heaven
and in earth. Back to Psalm 18 again. Now,
not only that, but he's described here, the Lord is my rock. He's
my rock. That's repeated twice here in
verse 2. Notice the word there where it
says, He's my strength. That's the same word that's rendered
earlier, He's my rock, if you notice the marginal reference
there. The Lord is our rock. Now there's a special meaning
to that. The Lord Jesus Christ is the
rock of ages. If you'll find verse 31. Look at verse 31 in Psalm 18,
for who is a God, save the Lord, who is a rock? Save our God,
accept our God. He is the strong foundation.
You remember what the Lord said to Peter upon this rock? I'll
build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against
that rock. Now, stay with me. Turn to Deuteronomy
chapter 32. He's our rock. He's our sure
foundation. Deuteronomy 32, look at verse 3, going to read a couple
of verses here in Deuteronomy 32, because I will publish the
name of the Lord, ascribe ye greatness unto our God, He is
the rock, notice that's capital. His work is perfect for all His
ways, all His ways are judgment, a God of truth without iniquity,
just and right is He. If you look at verse 15, in Deuteronomy
32 verse 15, some lightly esteemed Him, but He's called here the
Rock the rock of His salvation. He's the rock of our salvation. Now, stay with me here, look
at Deuteronomy 32, look at verse 30. Now this is interesting,
you want to mark this in your Bible. How should one chase a
thousand and two put ten thousand to flight except their rock Again,
that's capital, except their rock, the rock of Israel, had
sold them or helped them, and the Lord had shut them up. Now
look at verse 31. For their rock, that is the foundation
of the ungodly, the foundation of the Philistines and the Hittites
and all those who inhabited the land before Israel came in and
took the land. For their rock is not as our
rock. even our enemies themselves being
judges. Our rock is special. He's the rock of ages. He is
our strength. Now, notice also in verse 2,
he's given several more characteristics or descriptions of our God. He
is the strong Lord. He is the rock of salvation.
And then he says here, he's our fortress. He is our fortress. That is, He's our hiding place. He is our refuge. He's a refuge
for sinners, a refuge provided by God, a refuge that is a sure
hiding place. And then it says here, we'll
talk about this more in a minute, He's the deliverer, or He is
my deliverer. He is my redeemer. my Redeemer. And then it says simply here,
He's my God. He's my God. I like what Thomas
confessed that day when the Lord appeared to the disciples, the
resurrected Lord, and he said, Thomas declared, my Lord and
my God. He is my God. God who is God. We worship a true and living
God. Beside him there is no other
God. And then he's called here the
buckler. The buckler. Now the buckler
here is a word that we use for shield. He's the shield. Now, turn to Genesis chapter
15. I think it's Genesis 15, yes,
Genesis 15. You remember what God said to
Abraham when Abraham had a mighty victory handed to him
by the Lord? In Genesis 15 verse 1, after
these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision
saying, fear not Abram, I am thy shield. and I'm thy exceeding
great reward. The buckler, the Lord Jesus Christ
is our shield. You remember from our study in
Ephesians chapter 6, above all things taking the shield of faith
wherewith you shall be able to quench the fiery darts of the
wicked one. He's the buckler, my shield. Psalm 18 verse 35, you remember
this verse? Thou hast also given me the shield
of Thy salvation, and Thy right hand hath holden me up. Thy gentleness
hath made me great." His mercy. So He's our rock, He's our strength,
He's our deliverer, He's our redeemer, He's our God, He's
our shield. And then David says here in the
last part of verse 2, describing the characteristics of our God,
He's the power, that word there, horn, is symbolic of power. Like when you read that word,
the word arm, to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed, that's
a symbolic word referring to the power of our Lord. So, he
is the power of salvation. He is the power of salvation
and he is our high tower. He is our hiding place. Not ashamed
of the gospel of Christ, the power of God. unto salvation. He is our salvation. You know,
salvation, my friend, is not in a profession, a persuasion,
a position. Salvation is in a person. Salvation
is in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Savior. He is the deliverer. He's the rock. He's the fortress.
You see, everything is all in Him. The Word of God said Christ
is all and in all. Something else that we see about
the description of our Lord. Verse 30 says this, As for God,
His way is complete. His way is perfect. The Word
of the Lord is tried. Here's this word again, He is
a buckler. All those who trust Him, He's
my shield. As for God, His way is perfect. Every way of God. is perfect. He is a just God and Savior. He saves us with perfection.
He saves us completely. He doesn't save us in part. He
doesn't pay a down payment and then ask us to pay the rest.
He's the perfect Savior. He's the complete salvation. And in Him, we are complete. And His Word, His way and His
Word is perfect. His Word is without error. Heaven
and earth will pass away, His word will never pass away. As
for God, His way is perfect. Shall not the judge of all the
earth do right? And we know this, the Lord Jesus
Christ is the perfect way, isn't He? He's a complete way of salvation. Now look at verse 32. Talking
about this perfect way, verse 32 again, it is God that girdeth
me. He's clothed me with righteousness
and strength. He makes my way perfect. You see that? He makes my way
perfect. All we like sheep have gone astray. all lost in Adam. But in the
Lord Jesus Christ who is the way, the life, the truth, He
makes my way perfect, perfect. We are accepted in the Beloved
in the Lord Jesus Christ. He makes my way perfect. As for God, His way is truth. As for God, His way is perfect. I've got Don't turn, let me just
read this to you. For the word of the Lord is right
and all his works are done in truth. His way is perfect. His word is pure. Salvation is
complete, certain, and sure in him. Here's something else. Talking
about the attributes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You
know, he's a great Savior. He's a great Lord. Look at verse
46. He's the living Lord. The Lord
liveth. You see that? The Lord liveth. Oh, blessed be my... There's
that rock again. This is the living rock that
flows out of him the living water. Let the God of my salvation be
exalted. He's a living Lord. He only hath
life and immortality and light. He only. In Him we live and move
and have our very being. Now, listen to this. Our great
God is more than just alive. I'm alive to some extent. Our
God is more than just alive, He is the true and living God
who has turned us from idols to serve the living God. He is
not just alive, He is life! He is salvation! And He has turned
us from dead works to serve the living God. He's turned us from
our idols. to serve and love Him. Turn over
here to 1 John chapter 5. 1 John chapter 5. 1 John chapter 5. He is eternal
life. He is salvation. 1 John chapter
5 verse 10. He that believeth on the Son
of God hath the witness in himself. He that believeth not God hath
made him a liar, because he believeth not the record that God gave
of his Son. This is a record that God has
given to us eternal life. This life is in His Son. He's
the living God. He that hath the Son, he that
hath the Son hath life. He that hath not the Son of God
doesn't have life. He is the Lord that liveth, that
liveth in Him we live and move and have our being. Now, here's
the second thing I want to talk about. His great deliverance
for us. His great deliverance for us.
Now hold your place here in Psalm 18 and find Romans 11. You know
He is called the Deliverer in Romans 11. Turn over there. You probably have this marked,
verse 26. Because He's a living Lord, Our
Redeemer is able deliverer. Romans 11 verse 26, and so all
Israel shall be saved as it is written, all the spiritual Israel
of God, the true sons of Jacob, true sons of Abraham, and so
all Israel shall be saved as it is written, there shall come
out of Zion the capital, see it there, capital D, Deliverer,
the person, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. He is the Deliverer. He's our
Deliverer. We have the blessings, the manifold
many blessings through this Deliverer. Now, in Psalm 18, that word is
repeated over and over and over again. Christ, our Deliverer. Now, let me show you. Look at
verse 16 and 17. Verses 16 and 17. Talking about this deliverance
that we have in Christ Jesus and the Lord being the deliverer.
Look at verse 16. He sent from above. He took me. He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from the strong
enemy which hated me, for they were too strong for me. He sent
from above. Now let's look at some of these
things that we read here in this psalm about Christ our Deliverer.
He's our Redeemer. He's redeemed us from our sin.
He sent from above to deliver us. Now where did the Lord Jesus
Christ come from? He just show up one day. No,
He came from above. Turn over here to Psalm 57. He
was sent of God. God incarnate. God personified
in the flesh. Body thou hast prepared me, He
said. Psalm 57. He sent from above to deliver
us. Psalm 57. I will cry unto God
most high, unto God, verse 2 of Psalm 57, that performeth all
things from me. He sent from above, look at verse
3, he shall send from heaven and try to save me. That's not
what it says, I misread that. He shall send from heaven and
save me. from reproach of Him that would
swallow me up. My sin would swallow me up and
consume me eternally without His saving mercy. God shall send
forth His mercy and His truth. He shall send from heaven and
save. He sent from above. You see that in verse 16, look
at Psalm 18, verse 16. He sent from above and then it
says here, Look at verse 16 carefully. Next thing it says, He took me.
He took me. You know what He did? He chose
His covenant people. He took me in the sense that
He not only chose me in eternity, but you know what happened in
time? He took me. That is, He conquered me. He
overcame me. Ran me down as a good shepherd. And He took me. conquered me
he owned me for his own sheep now what he does to us when he
delivers us he sent from above how can he fail and then he takes
us to himself and loves us and saves us and redeems us now look
what else he says here several things He sent from above, He
took me, and then it says, He drew me out of many great waters,
out of many waters, great waters. He drew me out of great trouble.
He drew me. No man can come to me except
the Father which sent me, draw him. You remember the verse from
Jeremiah 31? He's loved us with an everlasting
love, therefore with loving kindness, He draws us to Himself. We started a study. I want you
to turn to Psalm 65. Psalm 65. I started a study this
morning. in our Bible study class at Zebulun
from the Song of Solomon. In chapter 1, verse 4, there's
a cry of the believer's heart that says, Draw me, Lord, and
I'll run after Thee. That's what he does. He draws
us. He draws us, and we do run. We do willingly run after him. Psalm 65. You see, he drew me. Look at verse 4. Blessed is the
man whom the Lord chooses and causes to approach unto thee,
causes, he draws us, that he may dwell in thy courts. We shall
be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even thy holy temple. Blessed is that man whom he has
chosen and the man that he causes to love him and bow unto him. Now, look back at Psalm 18 again.
Look at verse 19, He brought me forth. He brought me forth
also into a large place. Where did He bring us from? Where
did He bring us from? Out of death, sin, destruction. He brought me forth into a large
place, a place of safety, a place of comfort. He brought me forth,
translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom
of God's dear Son, His dear Son. You see the deliverance we have
in Christ Jesus. He brought me forth, He delivered
me, verse 9, and then it says why? Because He delighted in me. He delighted in me. Now, what
did the Lord see in us that would make Him delight in us? Himself. Christ in you, the hope of glory,
Himself. There's nothing in us lovable.
The only thing that God sees in us that would make Him delight
in us is the fact that He delights in His Son. Proverbs chapter
8, the father delights in the son. He brought me to himself
because he bought me with a price, he bought me with his blood,
he drew me, he delivered me because he delighted in me. Now you want
to turn and look this one, look at this one because you want
to mark this in your Bible. Look at Psalm 44 verse 4. talking about these deliverances
we have, He delivers us because He delights in us. Now look at
this, and it's by, you know what it's by? Look at verse 4, Psalm
44 verse 4, Thou art my king, O God, command deliverances for
Jacob. for the sons of Jacob." Aren't
you glad that God commanded to deliver you by His purpose and
by His grace? The reason why the Lord would
delight in us is because He delights in Christ. He's hid these things
from the wise and prudent and revealed them unto babe even
so father because it seems good in his sight. God delights in
his church. He loved the church and gave
himself for it. Talking about these deliverance
that we have in Christ Jesus. Now look at verse 27. Psalm 18
verse 27. Thou will save. Thou will save. Not maybe. Not could be, not
maybe. If I meet certain conditions,
it says here, thou will save the afflicted people. Thou will bring down the high
looks. Who are these afflicted people
he's going to save? What does the word of God say
in Luke 1910? The Lord Jesus Christ came to
seek and to save. which was lost. He didn't come
to call the righteous, but sinners unto repentance. He came to save
the ungodly. He justifies the ungodly. He
came to save the afflicted people, His covenant people. Call His
name Jesus. He shall save His people from
their sin. You see the glorious deliverance
that we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will save the afflicted. He will bring down the high look.
He's able to save, isn't He? You reckon He's able to save
you, me? He's able to save to the uttermost,
it says, all that come to God by Him. He's able to save the
afflicted, the sinful, the cast out, the ungodly. Christ died
for the ungodly. God committed his love toward
us, and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Look at verse
28. The Lord will light my candle. The Lord my God will enlighten
my darkness. Now, sinners are born in the
dark. You know that? We're born in the darkness of
ignorance. Our understanding is darkened. We're not only in
the dark, born in the dark, but you know what? By nature, we
love the dark. That's right. We love the dark. That's what
it says in John chapter 3. We love darkness, not light.
But it says here, talking about these deliverances God commands
for his people, he will save the afflicted, and then it says
here, thou will light my candle. He'll light my life. The Lord
my God will light my darkness. You know, and this too is by
the commandment of the Lord. You remember 2 Corinthians 4
verse 6? It's God who commanded the light
to shine out of darkness has shined in our hearts to give
us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face
of Jesus Christ. God commands the light to shine
in us in regenerating grace and in regenerating mercy. Turn over
here to John chapter 8 verse 12. John chapter 8 verse 12.
John 8 verse 12. The Lord is the light, isn't
he? He's the living water. John 8
verse 12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light
of the world. He that followeth me shall not
walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. We have the light of life in
him. One old preacher said, Candles
lit by God The devil cannot blow out. When he turns on the light,
it's an eternal light. Will never be put out. Never
be put out. Now, Psalm 18, verse 43. Talking about these
deliverances that we have in Christ Jesus. Verse 43 of Psalm
18. Thou hast delivered me from the
strivings of the people. Thou hast delivered me from the
strivings of the people. What do you see in that? Well
here's what I see. Thou hast delivered His people
from unbelief. He's delivered us from striving
against God. He's delivered us from being
a rebel against God, striving against Him. He's given us a
believing heart. and He's caused us to bow before
Him, no longer striving. He delivered us from striving.
He's made us and brought us to, from striving to submission to
Him. Thy people shall be willing in
the day of God's power. The Lord has wrought out for
us great peace. We have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ. We have peace in the soul and
peace in the body. We have peace with God being
reconciled to God in Christ Jesus. Now, notice Psalm 18 verse 48. And here's this word again, He
delivered me. You reckon there's deliverance in Christ? The Lord delivereth me from mine
enemies. Thou hast lifted me up above
those that rise up against me. The law would rise up against
me that is guilty. In Christ Jesus, there's no condemnation. Who can lay anything to the charge
of God's elect? Huh? It's God who justifies. Who is it that can condemn me?
Christ had died. Yea, rather, is risen again.
He was even at the right hand of God. He delivered me from
my enemies. Thou liftest me up above those
that rise up against me. Thou hast delivered me from the
violent man. You know what? He's delivered
me from myself. I would do violence to God because
I'm a sinner, but he has delivered me from myself. He's made me
a new creature in the Lord Jesus Christ. He's conquered us. He's
conquered us. He's delivered us from the enemy.
Romans 8, 37 says, we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. Revelation 6, 2 says, he went forth conquering to conquer. Never think of the Lord Jesus
Christ as a defeated, frustrated reformer. He is a mighty conquering
king who gives us the victory through the Lord Jesus Christ. And then look at verse 50. Didn't
think I'd get there, did you? I made it, didn't I? Verse 50,
great deliverance. These are great deliverance.
Giveth he to his king. to his king. I'm sure that's
talking about David, but it's talking about those who are lovers
like David. We are kings and priests in our
God. He's given great deliverance
unto his elect, and he has shown mercy to his anointed, to his
people, to David, and to his seed, David's seed. All believers
in Christ Jesus. He's given us great deliverances. You know, everything about our
salvation, everything about our salvation is great, isn't it? He's given us great pardon. He's
given us great mercy. You remember from our study in
Ephesians, but God who is rich in mercy for his great love wherewith
he loved us even when we were dead in sin. has quickened us
together with Christ Jesus. Everything about our salvation
is great. Matter of fact, it says that
in Hebrews 2. It talks about our so great salvation
that we have in Christ Jesus. Everything about our salvation
is great because everything about him is great, isn't it? It's great. Everything about
our salvation is not only great, But it's given unto us. Notice,
did you notice that word? Great deliverances are given. It's great, isn't it? And you
know what? It's the gift of God. The wages
of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. The apostle writing to the believers
there in Corinth said, thanks be unto God for his unspeakable
gift. The unspeakable gift of his grace. Great deliverance giveth he gives
unto his people. Well, the last thing is this. Here's the last point. Therefore,
verse 49, therefore we will give thanks. Therefore will I give
thanks unto the Lord. O Lord among the heathen, I'll
give thanks and sing praises unto thy name. I will be thankful
for who he is and for all that he has done for us and what great
mercy he gives unto us. In everything give thanks. This
is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I will
give thanks. I will. I'm going to scare you now. Turn
back to verse 1. Back to the beginning. Gotta
start over. I will give thanks. Look at verse
one, how it starts. I will love thee. I will love
thee. Believers are thankful people.
They're loving people. I will give thanks unto the Lord.
I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. I will love thee. Our
great Lord deserves the warmest love of our heart, the utmost
tender affection. We love him. Why? He first loved us. That's why
we love him. I will love the Lord. And then
look at verse 2, in the middle part of verse 2, in whom I will
trust. We trust Him. We trust Him. Remember from Psalm 62, trust
Him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him.
God is a refuge for us. I will trust Him. Now watch this. Oftentimes we've heard this saying
in religious circles, haven't we? not in grace circles, but
in normal, what we call, what we might call mainstream religion.
We, and among the Southern Baptists, it was a popular saying for a
long time, they would always say, trust the finished work
of Christ, wouldn't they? That's what they always say.
Well, you know, I'm trusting the finished work of Christ.
You know, I'm not. I'm not. What do you mean, preacher,
you're not? No, I'm trusting him who finished
the work. And there's a difference. I'm
not just trusting his work. I'm trusting him. Look what it
says there. In whom I will trust. I trust him. I will give thanks. I will trust him who finished
the work. That's what he said at Calvary.
It is finished. Our Lord must be the object of our faith or
faith is a mere presumption. looking unto Jesus, the author
and finisher of our faith. And then in verse 3, it says,
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. I will
worship his name. Now I'm going to jump all the
way back over to verse 49. Turn back over there. In closing,
I will give thanks. Look what it says. I will give
thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen. will I give
thanks. You see that? Among the heathen will I give
thanks. Now turn to Psalm 138. Psalm 138. What does that mean? That means we take a stand for
the gospel. I will praise the Lord. I will
sing His praise. I will declare and preach His
gospel even in the face of opposition. Believers don't compromise. They
don't back down. Psalm 138. I will praise thee
with my whole heart before the gods of this world, I will sing
praise to thee. I will worship toward thy holy
temple, praise thy name for thy loving kindness and thy truth,
for thou has magnified thy word above thy name. We're not ashamed
of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We're not ashamed to
own him. Paul's last words to Timothy
in 2nd Timothy chapter 1 says, I know whom I have believed and
I'm not ashamed. I know whom I have believed and
I'm persuaded he's able to keep that which I've committed unto
him against that day. And then it says, I will sing
praises unto his name. I will sing praises unto his
name. When God, when Christ is formed in the heart, the mouth
does sing and rejoice in the Lord. Now I want you to look
at a couple more Psalms, so turn to Psalm 33, about singing unto
the Lord. I will sing unto thy name, Psalm
33, Psalm 33. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous,
verse 1, for praise is comely, praise is proper for the upright. Praise the Lord with a harp.
Sing unto Him with a psaltery, an instrument of ten strings.
Sing unto Him a new song. Play skillfully with a loud noise. Sing unto the Lord. Sing unto
the Lord. Look at Psalm 40. Psalm 40, verse
3. Psalm 40, verse 3. Verse 2 says, talking about those
deliverances, he brought me up out of a horrible pit, he set
my feet upon a rock, established my goings, he brought me up,
he set me up, he established my way, and then it says in verse
3, he tuned me up. He put a new song in my mouth,
even praising to our God. Another Psalm, Psalm 95, turn
there, Psalm 95. Psalm 95. Look at verse 1. Oh, come, let
us sing unto the Lord. Let us make a joyful noise to
the rock. There's that rock again. The
rock, he's everywhere. This is the rock that's everywhere.
The rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence
with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise, noise unto him with a
psalm for the Lord. is a great God, a great King
above all God. Psalm 98, and I'll quit. Singing to the Lord, verse 1.
Singing to the Lord a new song. Why? Watch this. He had done
marvelous things. His right hand and His holy arm
has gotten Him the victory. No wonder the occupation of glory
is singing unto the Lamb, unto Him who loved us. Worthy is the
Lamb, washed from our sin and His own blood. Worthy is the
Lamb that was slain to receive all honor, glory, blessing, and
power both now and forever and ever.
