Message: tah0092 The Ressurection of the Just and Unjust

Zebulon Baptist Church

Pikeville, KY 41501
What does the Bible say about the resurrection of the dead?

The Bible affirms a resurrection of the dead for both the just and the unjust, as stated in Acts 24:15.

The Bible teaches that there will indeed be a resurrection of the dead, based on the words of Paul in Acts 24:15, which states that 'there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.' This resurrection is not merely a hope but a certainty, echoed throughout Scripture, including in Romans 1:4, where Christ's resurrection validates His ministry and promises. The resurrection signifies God's power over death and the fulfillment of His redemptive plan, which assures believers of their future resurrection and eternal life in a glorified state. Conversely, the unjust will also be resurrected, destined for eternal condemnation.

Acts 24:15, Romans 1:4, John 5:28-29

How do we know the resurrection of Jesus is true?

The resurrection of Jesus is confirmed through numerous biblical accounts and serves as God's stamp of approval on His Son's sacrifice.

The resurrection of Jesus is fundamental to our faith and is confirmed by several key passages. In Acts 2:24, Peter declares that God raised Jesus, eliminating the pains of death because it was impossible for death to hold Him. Furthermore, Romans 1:4 emphasizes that Christ was 'declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.' The resurrection not only validates Jesus' claim as the Savior but also assures believers of their own future resurrection, as articulated in 1 Corinthians 15:20-22. It serves as the cornerstone of the Gospel, affirming that His sacrifice was accepted by God, guaranteeing that all who are in Christ will also be raised.

Acts 2:24, Romans 1:4, 1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Why is the resurrection important for Christians?

The resurrection is crucial for Christians as it assures their victory over sin and death, promising eternal life.

The resurrection is pivotal for Christians because it symbolizes the victory over sin and death. As stated in Romans 6:9, 'Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.' This victory guarantees that believers will share in Christ's resurrection, as highlighted in 1 Corinthians 15:22, where it states, 'For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.' Furthermore, the resurrection brings hope and encourages believers to live in the light of eternity, affecting their actions and priorities in this life. It reassures us that death is not the end, but rather a transition to eternal life with God.

Romans 6:9, 1 Corinthians 15:22, John 11:25-26

Okay, let's turn in our Bible
again to the book of Acts. I pray that this message will
be a great blessing to you who believe and rest in Christ Jesus. Acts chapter 24, and I want you
to use your Bible, so get it in your lap, get your fingers
ready, because we're going to turn to a lot of Scripture, and
I want you to see what God says, not what I say, I want you to
read and see what God says about this very vital issue, vital
issue. And here it is, Acts 24 verse
15. Paul said, I have hope toward
God, which they themselves also allowed it. There shall be, there
shall be, no doubt about it, no question about it, there shall
be a resurrection of the dead. Both of the just, that's the
believer justified in Christ Jesus, and those ungodly reprobates,
the unjust. There shall be, this body is
going to be throughout all eternity a resurrected body, a resurrected
body. Now all through our study in
the book of Acts, there has been much emphasis and teaching and
preaching concerning the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Much
emphasis. Almost every sermon, turn back
to chapter 2, almost every sermon that we have studied through
the preaching of the book of Acts, starting from the get-go
in Acts chapter 2, When Paul stood, or Peter rather, stood
that day, he declared unto them the resurrection of the dead.
Acts 2. Look at verse 22. You men of
Israel, hear these words. Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved
of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs which God
did by him in the midst of you, as youselves know, him being
delivered by the determinate counsel or knowledge of God,
you have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.
Christ died. a real bloody, gory, horrible
death, determined of God, dying for our sin. Look at verse 24,
"...whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because
it was not possible that he should be holden of death." Death had
no claim on Him. Once He put our sin away, death
could not hold Him because He justified His people. with his sacrifice. Again in
chapter, turn over to chapter, well in the same chapter, chapter
2 here in the book of Acts, look at verse 32. This Jesus hath
God raised up whereof we are all witnesses. God raised him
up, therefore being by the right hand of God, exalted, having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he hath shed
forth this which you now see and hear. Being by the right
hand of God, God raised him up, exalted, Now I want you to find
chapter 3, Acts chapter 3, verse 13. When John and Peter went
to the temple and God raised up this cripple, and the people
were astounded, and in Acts chapter 3, verse 13, he says, The God
of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the God of our fathers, hath
glorified his Son, Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied him
in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him
go. You denied the Holy One and just and desired a murderer to
be granted unto you. You remember they said, away
with him, give us Barabbas, and you killed the Prince of Life,
whom God raised from the dead, whereof we are all witnesses.
In chapter 4, verse 2, being before this religious body here
in Acts 4, 2, being grieved that they taught the people and preached
through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. It's all through,
all through the early church, the early sermons here recorded
in the book of Acts. Now find Acts chapter 10, Acts
chapter 10, and this is good for us to see these things in
the Word of God. When Peter went down to the house of Cornelius,
the Gentile, you know what he preached to him? Look what it
says here in Acts chapter 10, down at verse 38, how God anointed
Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Ghost, and with power, went about
doing good, healing all that were oppressed of the devil.
For God was with him, and we are witnesses of all these things
which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem,
whom they slew and hanged on a tree. Him God raised up the
third day and showed him openly, not to all people, but unto witnesses
chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with
him." He had a real body. He had a real body. after he
rose from the dead. Now, in Acts chapter 13, the
first sermon that Paul preached when he went out from Antioch
on his first missionary journey, in chapter 13, in verse 28, And though they
found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that
he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all
that was written of him, they took him down from a tree and
laid him in a grave. God raised him from the dead. In Acts chapter 17, when Paul
stood among those philosophers, those ungodly people on Mars
Hill, he preached unto them in Acts chapter 17 verse 30, the
times of this ignorance God winked at, but now commands all men
everywhere, because he hath appointed a day in which he will judge
the world in righteousness by that man, whom he hath ordained,
whereof he hath given assurance unto all men that he raised him
from the dead." Now, read the next verse. And when they heard
the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, and others said,
We'll hear thee again of this matter. Some could not believe
it. Now, here in Acts chapter 24,
when Paul stood before this Roman governor, Felix, he preached
unto him the resurrection, or declared unto him that there
shall be a resurrection of the dead, the just and the unjust. Our Lord's glorious resurrection
from the dead is proof beyond dispute that all He said, all
He did, all He accomplished was and is true, accepted by God
Almighty. All that He said, all that He
did. Turn to Romans chapter 1. His resurrection is validation. to the veracity of His Word,
validation to the veracity of His ministry, the truth of it,
in that God raised Him from the dead. It's verification. Romans
chapter 1, look what it says right here, Romans chapter 1,
Paul a servant, verse 1, of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle,
separated unto the gospel of God, which he promised to four
by his prophets in the Holy Scripture concerning his Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the
flesh, declared to be the Son of God with power according to
the spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead."
God puts a stamp of approval on all that he said, all that
he did, in that God raised Him from the dead, declaring His
atonement a victory, a success, complete, final, and done. Turn to Romans chapter 4. Romans
chapter 4, verse 25. It says here in Romans 4, 25,
that He was delivered for our offenses, He was delivered for
our offenses as our substitute, and was raised again because
He justified us. Because he got the job done,
he was raised again. Now turn to Romans 6. What does
this mean? Here's what it means. Romans
chapter 6 verse 9, knowing that Christ being raised from the
dead, dieth no more. Death has no more dominion over
him, for in that he died, He died unto sin once, in that he
liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise, reckon yourselves dead
indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our
Lord. His resurrection is full proof
and guarantee of ours. The Lord's resurrection in His
glorified body is absolute guarantee of ours. Now I want you to find
John chapter 11. John chapter 11. Now stay with
me. I want you to see these verses for yourself. John chapter 11.
You remember Lazarus had died. Mary and Martha, they were weeping
over the death of their brother. And in John chapter 11, Martha
said unto him, I know that he'll rise again in the resurrection
in the last day. But the Lord said to her, I am
the resurrection and life. He that believeth in me, though
he were dead, yet shall he live. and whosoever liveth and believeth
in me shall never die." Do you believe this? Yes, I do. He is the resurrection. He is
life. Turn to John 14. John 14, 19. Yet a little while. John 14,
19. Yet a little while, the world seeth me no more, but you shall
see me resurrected because I live. You live also because I live. Now, turn to that chapter that's
so famous about the resurrection. There's one whole chapter in
1 Corinthians 15, one whole chapter that deals with the resurrection.
I'm saying that the Lord Jesus Christ is the first fruit And
the first fruit guarantees the success of the whole harvest
will come in. Christ is the first fruit. He
is the first one raised from the dead in a body, glorified
body, and His resurrection is a guarantee of ours. In 1 Corinthians
15, verse 19, If in this life only
we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable, But
now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits
of them that are sleeping. For since by man came death,
by man came also the resurrection from the dead. For as in Adam,
death, so in Christ shall all, all in him, surety, sacrifice,
shall be made alive, but every man in his own order, Christ
the firstfruits, afterwards they that are Christ at his coming,
Then cometh the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom
to God, even the Father, when he shall put down all authority,
rule and all authority and power. For he must reign till he hath
put all enemies under his feet, and the last enemy that shall
be destroyed is death." His resurrection is a guarantee of ours. He said
in the Revelation, I am he that liveth and was dead, but he didn't
stay dead. I'm alive forevermore and I have
the keys. He has the ownership of death
and hell. And He gives life to whom He
will. Now believers, this is not only, find the book of Job. This is not only New Testament
theology or New Testament doctrine. The Old Testament believers,
Job, Abraham, Moses, turn to Job 19. They all had a resurrection
hope. All had a resurrection hope,
a bodily resurrection. If you'll find Job 19, look at
verse 23. Oh, right before the book of
Psalms. Job 19. Oh, that my words were written,
now written. Oh, Job 19, 23. Oh, that they were printed in
a book. That they were graven in iron, pin, and laid in a rock
forever. I know that my Redeemer liveth,
and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And
though after the skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh I'm
going to see God." That was his hope. He had a resurrection hope,
didn't he? I want you to find Job, not Job this time, but Isaiah. Turn to Isaiah 26. Isaiah 26, 19. Moses, Abraham,
Job, David. David said, my flesh shall rest
in hope. He knew that there was a day
of resurrection coming when He would have a new body. Can you
imagine having a body without sin? A body that can completely and
wholly worship Him without any distraction or taint of sin.
That's the hope we have in Christ. To be like Him. That's what predestination
is all about. Who doesn't want to be predestinated
to be conformed to the image of Christ? Man's a fool, said
he that believed in predestination. Notice in Isaiah 26, Thy dead
men shall live together with my dead body, shall they arise
awake, and seeing ye that dwell in the dust, for thy dew is as
the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Now turn to Daniel. Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and then Daniel.
Daniel chapter 12. Daniel chapter 12. You see, this
is every believer's hope. A resurrection hope in Christ
Jesus because He put away our sin and justified us by His grace. Daniel 12 verse 2, Many of them
that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake some to everlasting
life and some to everlasting contempt. shame and contempt. There shall be a resurrection
of the just and the unjust in Christ, through Christ. Now,
listen to this. No one, no one, no one here or
anywhere else will disbelieve the absolute truth that this
flesh, because of sin, will die. Have you ever met a man that
said he would never die? I mean this body? Death is everywhere,
isn't it? You've been to a funeral. Your
loved ones have died. You've been to the cemetery.
You've dug graves. You've put bodies of loved ones
in the ground. No one here will doubt the fact
this flesh is dying. It's full of sin. It's full of
corruption. God said to Adam, in the day
you eat, you're going to die. Anybody here doubt that? You
know it's reality. Why do you know it's reality?
Number one, God said it. Number two, you've seen it come
to pass. It is true. Sin entered in by
that first man Adam when he disobeyed God and it entered into all of
us and Adam all died. The wages of sin is death. When
sin is finished with this body, it's going to bring forth death. It's appointed unto man once
to die and after that, judgment. And we've all been to many funerals.
We've all been to many cemeteries. We've all buried many people.
Drive around. These hills are full of cemeteries.
People in the flesh are going to die. It's just reality. Now, you don't disbelieve that,
do you? No one would disbelieve that. It's reality. We see it.
God said it and we see it. Now, why would any disbelieve
the absolute truth spoken by the same Lord that there will
be a bodily resurrection of every person that ever walked topside
of God's green earth? Every person that ever lived
from Adam to the last man, there's going to be a bodily resurrection.
God says so. A resurrection of the just and
the unjust. Turn back to 1 Corinthians chapter
15 again, and let me show you something here. There were some,
evidently, who crept in unawares into that church in Corinth,
who said and believed that there was not going to be a resurrection. Look what it says here, 1 Corinthians
15. Now, verse 12, if Christ be preached that He rose from
the dead, now if He be not risen, we have no gospel. How say some
among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?" Could you believe
that? How do some say among you that there is no resurrection
if Christ be preached? Look, read on. But if there's
no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And
if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your
faith, your faith is vain. Look at verse 17. And if Christ
be not raised, your faith is vain, and your sin, Verse 18,
then, they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. I say some among you that there
is no resurrection of the dead. Now, in Acts 24 verse 15, he
says in verse 15, there shall be a resurrection of the dead,
both of the just and the unjust. The resurrection of the believer,
two things here. Here's the first one. The resurrection
of the believer in Christ will be a most glorious, splendor
beyond human description or imagination. The Lord Jesus redeemed us. He
justified us, redeemed us with His own blood, freely by His
grace. Our whole person, body, soul,
and spirit. We read that this morning. He
bought us with His own blood. Therefore, glorify God in your
body and in your spirit, which belong to Him. He bought us lock
stock and barrel our whole person our whole person. He bought us
and He says that he's going to raise us up again at the last
day our whole person in Christ Jesus He redeemed our whole person
body soul and spirit in Christ they that have done good Turn
back over here to John chapter 5 now look at this carefully
There shall be a resurrection. Marvel not John 5, 28. Marvel not at this for the hour
is coming. The hour is coming. You see this
hour is set when the Lord Jesus shall come. And when He comes,
there's going to be a resurrection of the dead. Resurrection of
the dead. Those who are in Christ and afterward
those who are not in Christ. in which all that are in the
grave shall hear His voice and shall come forth. They shall
hear His voice. Now you talk about an invincible
call. Will they answer that call? They'll answer that call, won't
they? All which are in the grave shall hear His voice and shall
come forth. They that have done good unto
the resurrection of life. They that have done good unto
the resurrection of life. A lot of folks would look at
that and say, well, you know, I didn't do this and I didn't do that
and I've done some good things. And they think upon their merit
or their work or the good deeds that they have done, they consider
that good enough to merit God's favor. My friend, there is none
good, no, not one. Those that have done good are
those who were made righteous in Christ Jesus by His doing
and dying, by His righteousness given unto us. They that have
done good are the same as those who were justified in Christ
Jesus freely by His grace to the total exclusion of anything
I do. Anything I bring, anything I
have, anything I add is just sin. Our total confidence is
in Christ alone. Our complete salvation, all grace
here and all glory hereafter is totally accomplished by the
Lord Jesus and dependent upon Him. This is the righteousness
of Christ I must have in Him to enter into His presence. and a resurrection unto life. Turn back to the book of Romans,
chapter 5. This is a righteousness that I must have that's freely
imputed in the gospel. It's a righteousness that's of
God given in Christ. Romans 5, look at verse 18. Now
this is so key. This is what we call representation.
Adam was a representative man, right? And Adam all died. In
Christ, He's also a representative man, representing His heavenly
chosen elect. Adam represented all men, and
Adam all died. The Lord Jesus is a representative
head, surety of His covenant people. Now read on, Romans 5,
18, Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all
men the condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the
free gift came upon all men of the justification of life. That
is all in Christ. For as by one man's disobedience
many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many
be made righteous." Now who's that? That's Christ. Moreover,
the law entered that the offense might abound, but where sin abounded,
grace did much more abound, that as sin has reigned unto death,
even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life
by Jesus Christ our Lord. There is a righteousness that
I cannot produce, but there is a righteousness in the gospel
that is freely given. Upon that righteousness, upon
a life I did not live, upon a death I did not die, another's life,
another's death, I rest my hope eternally in the Lord Jesus Christ. His righteousness alone. That's
those who have done good, the resurrection of the just, those
justified in Christ. So I must have a perfect righteousness
that's produced by God and freely imputed unto us. Blessed is a
man to whom God would impute righteousness without works. Secondly, those who have done
good are those who have a blood atonement to satisfy God's offended
justice. Sin has to be paid for. And those that have done good
in Christ Jesus are those who have a perfect righteousness
given and those who have their sin completely put away by the
blood atonement of the Lord Jesus. He appeared once in the end of
the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Did He
get the job done? Did He pay part of the debt and
then I have to merit the rest of the debt or pay the rest of
the debt off? Or did He pay the debt in full?
God says He paid it in full. God said the blood of Christ
cleanses us from all sin. He bought us with His own blood. There's going to be a resurrection
of the just. Those that have done good in
Christ Jesus, made good and perfect and righteous and redeemed and
bought unto a resurrection, this body will live. Resurrected and
glorified just like the Lord Jesus. This is why Death to the
believer is called in Scripture, precious in the sight of the
Lord is the death of His saints. Precious. It's a precious thing. This is why death to the believer
is considered a blessing. Revelation 14, 13 says this,
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord. That's a blessing. That's a blessing. To be absent
from this body is to be present with the Lord. For me to live
is Christ, to die is not punishment, promotion. Promotion. When the believer dies, his soul
and spirit goes back to God who gave it. The body goes back to
the earth, back to the dust. But one day when the Lord comes
again, you know what He's going to do? I'll show you. Turn to 1 Thessalonians. 1 Thessalonians
chapter 4. Here's what's going to happen.
This is why it's a blessed thing. Our Lord said, don't weep for
me. Don't weep over the remedy. Weep over the disease, but not
the remedy. I must go to the cross. I must
die. I must be raised again. Look
at 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. You see, we have hope toward
God. It's a resurrection good hope. 1 Thessalonians 4 verse
13, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, concerning believers who die, their body
does sleep in the dust, that you sorrow not even as others
which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus
died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Him,
God will bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the
word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the
coming of the Lord shall not prevent, the better word is,
precede them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend
from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, with
the trump of God, and the dead in Christ, the dead in Christ
are going to be raised first than we which are alive. I'm
living then, and remains shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever
be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another
with these words." I don't believe in this thing that's fabricated
by a man called the secret rapture. He said he's going to descend
from heaven with a shout. No secret about that. When He
comes, He's going to bring the souls of those saints who have
died in Christ. He's going to bring those with
Him. And when He comes, the dead in Christ are going to get up!
And all these cemeteries where believers have been planted,
their bodies are going to look like plowed fields. And the dead
in Christ are going to come forth with a glorified body just like
the Lord Jesus Christ. Look what He says over here.
In Philippians, turn back to Philippians chapter 3. He is
going to change our vile body and give us a new body to worship
and enjoy Him forever. Look what he says here in Philippians
3 verse 24, our conversation is in heaven. From whence also
we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change
our vile body that he may fashion it like unto his glorious body,
according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all
things, all things unto himself." He's going to change this vile
body, and he's going to give it a new body just like himself. Now turn again to 1 Corinthians
15. Look what he says right here,
and let's begin reading at verse 47. 1 Corinthians 15, 47. You see, there's going to be
resurrection of the just, those justified in Christ. A glorious
day that will be. 1 Corinthians 15, 47, the first
man is of the earth earthy, the second man is the Lord from heaven,
the Lord Jesus. As is the earthy, such are they
that are earthy. As is the heavenly, such are
they also that are heavenly. As we have borne the image of
the earthy, We shall bear the image of the heavenly. Now this
I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God, neither does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold,
I show you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we're
all going to be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at
the last trump. For the trumpet shall sound.
and the dead shall be raised incorruptible." This is the believers
in Christ. "...and shall be chained. For
this corruptible must put on incorruption, this mortal must
put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall
have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting?
O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin. But He put our sin away. The
strength of the law! The strength of sin is the law.
He satisfied that. Thanks be unto God which giveth
us the victory. Giveth us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ. Glorious resurrection of believers
in Christ Jesus. A resurrection of the just unto
eternal life. Those who have done good in Christ
unto eternal life. But now there's a flip side to
that. Here's the second thing. It says
in this text here, there shall be a resurrection of the dead,
both of the just and the unjust. There will also be a bodily resurrection
of the wicked, the wicked dead, unto a resurrection of eternal
damnation. Those, he says over here, that
have done evil unto the resurrection of Damnation. Damnation. Eternal condemnation. Those not
washed in the blood of Christ, who have not His garment of righteousness
on, will be forever, who have not a blood atonement, who have
no mediator, no advocate before God, no righteousness to recommend
them unto God, no blood atonement to put away their sin. The wicked
dead will be forever under the unchanging, unmitigated wrath
of God eternally. Eternally. Now, this is not eternal
annihilation. There are some people that believe
that there will be just annihilation of the wicked dead, that there
is no eternal punishment. This book does not teach that.
As there is a resurrection unto life unto eternal glory, there
is a resurrection unto death called the second death, of which
there is no end, but eternal misery. The unmitigated, unchanging
wrath of God throughout all eternity. Eternal, endless suffering. Turn
over here to 2 Thessalonians 1. I won't keep you long on this
because I wanted to spend a major part of my time talking about
the good news. But now here's some bad news.
Here's some bad news. If you're yet without Christ,
or resting in the merit of your own hand, You'll hear Him say
in that day, Depart, depart from Me, I never, I never knew you. Now look what He says here, in
2 Thessalonians chapter 1, And to you who are troubled, verse
7, Rest with us when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from
heaven with His mighty angel in flaming fire, taking vengeance
on them that know not God. that obey not the gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting
condemnation." Destruction from the presence of the Lord and
from the glory of His power when He comes to be glorified in His
saints and to be admired in all them that believe because our
testimony among you was believed in that day. What a contrast. between the bodily resurrection
of the just and the bodily resurrection of the unjust. Depart from me, our Lord said,
I never, and I never knew you. Now I want you to find Revelation
20. Revelation 20. And look at this. Revelation 20, it says in verse
6, Revelation 26, Blessed and holy is he that hath part in
the first resurrection, I believe here he is talking about regeneration
in Christ. On such the second death has
no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall
reign with Him a thousand years. Preacher, do you believe in the
millennium? Yep, and we are in it right now. We reign with Christ
right now, believers as kings and priests unto our God. Now
look what it says here in Revelation 20. Verse 12, the great, great
white throne judgment. Verse 11, I saw a great white
throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and
heaven fled away, and there was no place for them. And I saw
the dead, small and great, standing before God. And the books were
opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of
life. And the dead, were judged out of those things which are
written in the books according to their deeds." Do you want
to stand on the merit of your deeds? Here it is. Here it is.
Look what happened to their end. And the sea gave up the dead
which were in it, and death and the grave delivered up the dead
which were in them, and they were judged, every man according
to their works. Well, how would it be? You've
got enough to get in. And death and hell were cast
into the lake of fire, which is the second death. And whosoever
was not found written in the book of life was cast into the
lake of fire." Eternal judgment. Eternal condemnation. Now turn to Revelation 22. Look
at this. Revelation 22. Now some, some
wise person Some fool. The fool has said in his heart,
there is no God. Some fool has concocted some
idea that after the wicked dead die in this life, that in a day
later that they'll have a second opportunity. It's just an extension
of free willism, isn't it? They'll have a second opportunity
to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. That's just tommyrot.
That's just absolute tommyrot. But listen to this, as death
finds you, as death finds you, God will judge you. As God judges
you, eternity will keep you. You die in your sin. Our Lord
said, except you believe that I am, you'll die in your sins. Now, Revelation 22.11. And this puts a death knell to
any idea of some kind of second chance, and I really think it's
born out of the doctrine of purgatory. You know, there are some who
believe in purgatory. If you pay enough for your dead
relatives, you get them out. It's the same thing that I grew
up with in Mormonism. They believe in spirit prison.
And if you baptize your dead relatives for the dead, they
believe in baptism by proxy, if you're baptized for one of
your dead relatives, that they're taken out of spirit prison. That's
just tommyrot. But look what it says right here.
Here's the Word of God. Here's the record of God. Revelation
22, 11. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still. He that
is filthy, let him be filthy still. He that is righteous,
let him be righteous still. He that is holy, let him be holy
still. You die in your sin, you'll be
raised in your sin, and you'll stand before God in judgment
and hear Him say, depart from Me, depart from Me, depart from
Me. I never, no, never loved you. I never knew you. Turn to Matthew
25 and look at this. Matthew 25. I'm vitally interested in this
because I'm a man. I have a body of flesh. And this
body is going to be somewhere in that resurrection unto eternal
life or eternal condemnation. But the body is going to be,
not going to be annihilated. Look what it says here in Matthew
25, verse 31, When the Son of Man shall come, Matthew 25, 31, and all the holy angels with
him. Then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory, and before
him shall be gathered all nations. And he shall separate them one
from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goat, and
he shall set the sheep on his right hand and the goat on the
left. Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand,
Come ye blessed to my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared
for you from the foundation. from the foundation of the world
at the blessed resurrection of the just. Now here's the flip
side of that. He said those goats, those goats, he says in verse
41, then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, and here's
the same word, depart from me. Depart from me. Depart from any
mercy. Depart from any grace. Depart
from any hope. Ye cursed in everlasting fire. prepared for the devil and his
followers. Look at verse 46, for these shall
go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous unto eternal
life. Turn to John chapter 3 and I
close. John chapter 3, I urge you as your friend who is concerned
for your soul and as God's servant sent to tell you the truth, I
urge you who have not trusted Christ for all salvation, do
so now. Right now. Today is the day of
salvation. John 3, verse 35, The Father
loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. He that
believeth on the Son hath everlasting life. He that believeth not the
Son shall not see life, But the wrath of God, the unmitigated,
unchanging, eternal wrath of God abides, abides, abides on
Him. He that believeth on the Son
hath life. Well, I pray the Lord will bless
that.
