Why is Christ's work important for Christians?

Answered in 3 sources

Christ's work is essential because it provides the basis for our salvation and reconciliation with God (2 Corinthians 5:18).

The work of Christ is crucial for Christians as it is through His redemptive actions that we are reconciled to God. According to 2 Corinthians 5:18, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting our sins against us. This reconciliation restores our relationship with the Father, which was severed by sin. Without Christ's perfect sacrifice and the finished work of atonement, we would remain in our sins, without hope and separated from God. Therefore, His work not only secures our salvation but also establishes our new identity as children of God.
