That really blessed my heart.
I really enjoyed that. What a privilege to carry everything
to God in prayer. Wonderful song. All right, go with me back to
Psalm 62. Psalm 62. Our text tonight is
one verse of Scripture. And I pray that our Lord will
prepare us right now to read it. I pray that we will truly
enter into what God is saying to God's people right here, the
Spirit of God. Let's read this. as God's Spirit
talking to you, talking to you. I'm going to read this as God's
Spirit talking directly to me. Psalm 62 verse 8, it says, Trust in Him at all times. Ye people, pour out your heart
before Him. God is a refuge for us. And then the word salah means
pause right there for a moment and just think about that. Just
stop before we go any further, just stop and really think about
that. Trust in him at all times. Ye people pour out your heart
before him. God is a refuge for us. Sometimes
we make the great mistake of thinking that our salvation is
only a doctrine. And we do. I do. I know that
you do because I do also. That's a great mistake. Just thinking that our salvation
is only a doctrine. Sometimes we miss out on the
comfort because we see our hope to be a series of facts to believe. Well, you have fact number one,
number two, number three, number four, and number five. Fact,
fact, fact, fact, fact. When we do that, when our trust
is confined to a doctrine or just confined to a series of
facts, we miss the blessing The true blessing of knowing a current,
intimate relationship with a person. A person. A true union with a
person. Sometimes we think of the Lord's
dealings with His people as only being in the past. We read these
Psalms. We read about these men like
David and Moses and even the apostles. We think of the Lord's
dealings with His people as only being in the past, or we think
of them as being one day in the future. He dealt with His people
in the past, and now this is an empty zone, and one day He'll
deal with His people again in the future. When we do that,
we miss the comfort of knowing His dealings with us right now. He has dealings with us right
now. Verse eight says, trust in him
at all times, all times, pour out your heart
to him right now, right now, literally right now.
I want to encourage everyone to pour out their heart to him
right now. If Christ came to shed His blood
for us, sometimes I'm able to really enter into that. And it's
not just a fact, it's a person. It's a man who loved me and washed
me from my sins. If He came to shed His blood
for us and to make us acceptable to God by Him, we were completely
unacceptable. But if He came and He did all
this for us, He accomplished all this for us, and then if
He went back to His Father to prepare a place for us, if we were chosen way in the
past before the foundation of the world, and if He came and
accomplished this and went back to prepare a place for us way
in the future, in our mind, if we're His elect, redeemed,
people who verse 8 calls us, that's how it ends the verse,
us. Speaking of us, if we were made
to be one of the us, then God, the God, the highest holy God,
He is not just our God, He's our Father. He's our heavenly
Father. Think about that. You talk about
a Selah, just pause for a moment and think about that. He's our
Father. He's our Father. In Christ, that's
the current condition of our relationship with Him. We can say and we can know He
is our Father. This is our Father. Look with
me over at Psalm 103. Psalm 103, verse 10, it says,
He hath not dealt with us. Us, in the scripture, there's
always a us and a them. And the same can't be said for
them. But for us, verse 10 says, He
hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according
to our iniquities. He rewarded Christ after our
sins. He rewarded Christ after our
iniquities. Verse 11, it says, for as the
heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward
them that fear Him. As far as the east is from the
west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. That's
wonderful news. Verse 13 says, like as a father
pitieth his children, do fathers pity their children? Do fathers
pity their children? He said, just like a father pities
his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth
our frame, he remembers that we're dust. The word pity means
tender affection. It means compassion. Tender,
tender affection. In Christ, we have received the
love of the Father, the heavenly Father. Turn with me over to
John 17. John 17, this is Christ praying
to the Father. Verse 1, it says, These words
spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father,
the hour is come. Glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son
also may glorify Thee, as Thou hast given Him power over all
flesh. Power over all flesh. that he
should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. Who all will be saved? Who all will be accepted into
this relationship with God? Here's the answer. Every soul
that the father chose and gave to Christ for him to redeem them. That's who all will be saved.
Down in verse six, he said, I have manifested thy name unto the
men which thou gavest me out of the world. Thine they were
and thou gavest them me and they have kept thy word. He said,
every soul you gave to me out of the world, not the entire
world. Not the entire world. Christ
did not die for the entire world. Christ died for every soul that
God the Father selected out of the world and gave to him as
a gift, an inheritance to him. He said, if you ask of me, I'll
give you the heathen for your inheritance. Verse 9, the Lord
said, I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but
for them which thou hast given me, for they are thine. That's who Christ prayed for.
That's who Christ interceded for. That's who Christ died for. That's who Christ saved. That's
the us that Psalm 62 is speaking of. The people, He said, ye people. Those are the particular people.
Now He said right here in John 17 verse 22, He said, The glory
which thou gavest Me, I have given them, that they may be
one, even as We are one. I in them, and thou in Me, that
they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that
thou hast sent me, and watch this part right here, and hast
loved them as thou hast loved me. If we could only enter in
to how much God the Father loves Christ. That deserves another
salat. if we could only enter in to
how much God the Father loves Christ. How much do you think
God the Father loves Christ? If we could ever fathom that,
if we could only be fathomed how much. Christ is the apple
of His eye. He is the sole object of His
delight. His darling, beloved Son. The
One that He's chosen to give everything to. Everything that
is. He said, I've given it all into
His hands. All of it. If it could ever be
fathomed how much God the Father loves Christ, then it could be
fathomed how much God the Father loves us in Christ. And that's amazing. Look with
me at John 20. John 20, this is just after our
Lord has risen. Mary Magdalene is the first person
to see Him, and this is what He says to her. John 20, verse
17, Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended
to my Father. But go to my brethren, and say
unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father. and to my God
and your God." Oh, the selflessness of Christ. The absolute selflessness
of Christ. What He's saying is, you have
now been bought. You have been officially bought,
purchased into the family of God. Through what I just accomplished
on the cross, He had just risen from the grave. Everything he
bore on the cross and paid for, for three days in the ground,
in the grave. He said, everything that I just
accomplished, he said, that's signed all your adoption papers,
signed in my own blood. And now he said, not only is
he my father, he said, he's your father, your father too. You're
welcome to freely cry out to him. You can cry, our Father,
which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. We get to cry, Father. That's amazing. You talk about
take something for granted, that we would be able to cry, dear
Father, and he'll hear us. Oh, the union of love that God's
people have been given with the heavenly Father. Now hold your
place in John and turn over to Revelation 21. Revelation 21, verse 1, it says, And I saw a
new heaven and a new earth, For the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away, and there was no more sea. And I, John,
saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." prepared as a bride adorned for
her husband. Down in verse nine, it says,
and there came unto me one of the seven angels, which had the
seven vials full of the seven last plagues and talked with
me saying, come hither, I will show thee the bride, the lamb's
wife. How much love for the souls that
God the Father gave to him. How much love does Christ have
for who the Scripture calls, collectively calls, her? All those souls that the Father
gave to Him, the Scripture collectively calls them her. How much love
does Christ have for her? How much love? So much love,
He married her. So much love, He married her.
Us who were chosen by the father, redeemed by the blood, sinners
like us. Her maker became her husband. To have and to hold from this
day forward because of death, they'll never part. Sadly, she,
we have defiled ourselves before him. She defiled herself before
him. She was unfaithful to him. She sinned against him. That's
all she did. Because of that, he had every
right to lay the law down on her. But he didn't do that. Instead, he laid down his life
for her. And it says back in John, if
you go back to John, this time chapter 13, I love this verse
of scripture right here, John 13 verse 1, it says, Now before
the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour was
come, that He should depart out of this world unto the Father,
having loved His own, which were in the world, He loved them unto
the end. In spite of them, he loved them
unto the end. He had every right to put her
away, but he did not. He did not do it. He laid down
his life for her. He gave himself to her. He gave
himself for her. John 15 verse 13 says, greater
love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends. Oh, the love of the Father for
His children, the love of Christ for His bride, and look with
me at Romans 8. Romans chapter 8. Romans 8, 26, it says, likewise,
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession
for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. That is so sweet
to me. The Spirit is constantly groaning
intercessions for God's people. Constantly. Constantly groaning. Verse 16 right here, it says,
the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we're the
children of God. The Spirit is constantly speaking
peace to our hearts. Our hearts are always torn up. Always falling apart. And the
Spirit is constantly speaking peace. Constantly groaning intercessions. Constantly speaking peace. The
Spirit is constantly drawing us. It's constantly saying come.
Come, it's okay, come. Constantly. Why does the Spirit
constantly do that for God's people? Here's the answer. Love. The love of the Spirit. Love is what quickens God's people. Love is what calls God's people. Echoes of mercy, whispers of
love. Go with me back to Psalm 62. Now, if God the Father has chosen
us in Christ, and redeemed us in Christ and called us in Christ,
if He has revealed to us that everything we are and everything
we have and everything we ever will be is of Him and by Him
and through Him and to Him, if He has revealed to us that all
of our hope of glory is in what He has done for us because of
that love, Everything he's done for us, not what we have done
for him, but what he has done for us. He started everything
concerning us. He finished everything concerning
us. He is our God. We are his people. We're in his hands. We belong
to him. If God has called us to that.
called our hearts to that, called our minds to that. If He's called
us to that, if He's revealed that to us, if He's made it known
to us that we're His people, then here's His word to us, all
right? Psalm 62, verse eight says, trust
in Him at all times. Ye people, pour out your heart
before Him. God is a refuge for us. A refuge is a hiding place, a
shelter. It's a place of safety, a place
of protection. David said, in the time of trouble,
he'll hide me. He'll hide me. It does my heart
such good to constantly hear the confidence of the scriptures.
The confidence of the scriptures. He said in that time of trouble,
He'll hide me. If He hid us in the secret of
His tabernacle, in Him, if He hid us there through that great
time of trouble, If He sheltered us through the
judgment of our sin while He was on that cross, all of His
people were in Him, hiding in Him, hiding in Thee. Thou blest
rock of ages, I'm hiding in Thee. This is my only hope, that I'm
hiding in You, just sitting here safe, protected, covered. If He hid us and sheltered us
through the judgment of our sin, He will shelter us through every
other trouble that comes. Every other trouble. David said
trust in Him. Trust Him right now. Trust a
person. Don't trust a doctrine. Don't
trust a series of facts. Trust a person. David said trust
Him right now. Think about it this way. Trust
your husband. Trust your husband. The Father gave you to Him. The
Spirit has called you to Him. Trust the one who saved you.
Trust the one who emptied heaven for you. Came down Himself. Trust the one who controls everything.
Trust Him. At all times, David said. He
said in Psalm 34 verse 1, I will bless the Lord at all times. At all times. I'm going to tell
you in the flesh that is so hard to do. It is so hard to do. With man, it's impossible. If
it were not for God's grace and God's Spirit constantly groaning
on our behalf, constantly bringing us back, but for the grace of
God, it's impossible to trust Him at all times and bless Him
at all times. With man, it's impossible, but
with God, all things are possible. And the song says, oh, for grace
to trust him more. Don't you want that? Oh, for
grace to trust him more. Verse eight says, trust in him
at all times. Ye people pour out your heart
before him. Do you need someone to talk to?
Do you need somebody to talk to? Does it ever feel better
to get something off of your chest? You know it does. I know that it does. We all experience
that. As soon as we get it off of our
chest, it's like I just had to get that off my chest. Do you
need somebody to talk to? Pour out your heart to Him. Pour out your heart to Him. Tell
Him every fear that you have. You have fears. You're afraid,
and so am I. Tell Him every fear you have.
Cry to Him every cry you have. Pour out your heart to Him. He
poured out His soul unto death so that you could pour out your
heart to Him. He made Himself to be touched
with the feeling of our infirmities. As I stand right now and as you
sit right now, you feel the feeling of your infirmities. You feel
it within you. He was touched with the feeling
of our infirmities and was in all points tempted like as we
are, yet without sin. just so we could pour out our
heart to Him. He went through all that just so He could say,
I know. Look with me at Psalm 46. Psalm
46, verse one. God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear. Though the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the seas, though
the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains
shake with the swelling thereof, there is a river. Christ is the
river, His blood is the river, His Spirit is the river, His
Word is the river. There's a river, the streams
whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the
tabernacles of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she
shall not be moved. God shall help her, and that
right early. The heathen raged, The kingdoms
were moved. He uttered His voice. The earth
melted. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Come, behold the works of the
Lord. What desolations He hath made
in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto
the end of the earth. He breaketh the bow, and cutteth
the spear in sunder. He burneth the chariot in the
fire. Be still, and know that I am
God. I will be exalted among the heathen. I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Put your trust in Him. Put your
trust in Him. Go with me to Psalm 42. Psalm 42 verse 1 says, as the
heart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after
thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for
the living God. When shall I come and appear
before God? My tears have been my meat day
and night while they continually say unto me, where is thy God? When I remember these things,
I pour out my soul in me. For I had gone with the multitude,
I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy
and praise, with the multitude that kept holy day." This is
when David was not able to come to the house of God to worship.
He had to stay, stay home. And he said, Oh, I miss the house
of God. But look what he said in verse five. Why art thou cast
down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in
me? Hope thou in God. or I shall
yet praise Him for the help of His countenance." Just trust
the Lord. Just pour out your heart to Him. Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 say, trust
in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge
Him and He shall direct thy paths. Pour out your heart to Him. Pour
out your heart to Him, not just your mind. Pour out your heart
to Him. He said, you will seek me and
find me. You'll have me when you search
for me with all your heart. Pour out, empty, empty your heart
to Him. You will find a refuge there.
You'll find a refuge. If you need a refuge right now,
And we do. We do. If you need a refuge,
if you need a shelter in the time of storm, pour out your
heart to Him. Pour it out to Him. This is what
Peter said. He said, cast all your care upon
Him. He careth for you. He cares for
you. He proved it at the cross. He
proved it. If our all was cast on Him then,
at the cross. If our all was cast on Him then,
our all can be cast on Him now. All of it. Cast all your care
upon Him. Cast it all on Him. He cares
for you. Hebrews 4 verse 16 says, Let
us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Let
us, therefore, come boldly. Let us, therefore, walk right
up to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find
grace to help in time of need. Trust in Him at all times. It's always a time of need, always. Trust in Him at all times. Ye
precious people, chosen and blessed of the Lord, pour out your heart
before Him. Cast every care that you have
on Him. God is a refuge for us. He cares for us. He'll shelter
us. Now let's just think about that
for a while. Selah. Let's just dwell on that for
a while. I pray the Lord will let us dwell on that until we're
able to come back together and open his word again. All right,
let's sing a closing hymn.
