In the sermon "Storm Warning #13," various speakers address the theological topic of salvation through Christ, emphasizing the necessity of recognizing one's sinfulness in order to receive God’s grace. The key points articulate that true acknowledgment of guilt before God, reliance on Christ's substitutionary death, and the subsequent rest offered to believers are pivotal for spiritual maturity. Scripture references such as Mark 2:17, Romans 3:20, John 3:14-15, and Matthew 11:28-30 reinforce the central argument that faith in Christ not only reveals human sinfulness but also provides the only remedy for it. The doctrinal significance lies in the Reformed understanding of total depravity and unconditional election, where salvation is viewed as a sovereign act of grace, underscoring the importance of turning to Christ for eternal life amidst a world laden with sin and despair.

Key Quotes

“Faith acknowledges sinfulness. It cannot be that a person is serious about being saved who has not learned by the revelation of the Holy Spirit that they are lost in sin.”

“When one truly believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, their God-given faith is proof of a heart agreement with the Word of God concerning their guilt and sinfulness and their need of Christ Jesus.”

“Come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

“It is imperative that you flee to Christ Jesus today. Not tomorrow for none of us are promised another day on this earth.”

Warm greetings, friends, near
and far. The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
forever and ever. This is Sinner Saved coming at
you, and the following short evangelistic gospel message is
sponsored by preacher Wayne Boyd and the Brethren in Christ at
First Baptist Church located in Almonte, Michigan, USA. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. It is my ongoing
hope and prayer unto God Most High, the only Holy Father, that
His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness,
be greatly exalted, that His everlasting gospel be clearly
proclaimed, that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled,
and that His elect saints be greatly encouraged and comforted
in these evil and perilous days. Please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so, we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow for all hands. Heads up! Please find
enclosed encouragement in so great salvation by the perfect
and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor,
needy, and wretched sinners by his sovereign free grace. That
is to say, Almighty God in His unmerited favor to save me and
you from our sins and from hell. Faith acknowledges sinfulness. It cannot be that a person is
serious about being saved who has not learned by the revelation
of the Holy Spirit that they are lost in sin and that in their
heart they are spiritually needy and desperately wicked. No one
will ever come to Christ until they learn they stand in need
of the blessed Savior. Hear the Master's words from
Mark 2.17, friends. Who will come to the great physician
for cleansing, except those who have discovered that they are
spiritual lepers? Who will draw near to the great
high priest for acceptance before a holy God, except those who
have been taught that by the deeds of the law shall no flesh
be justified? In his sight, Romans 3 20. who
will approach God through the only mediator between God and
men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2.5, except those who have learned
that because of sin they are alienated from the Holy One.
The Holy Spirit will show to every sinner in whom he effectually
works the insufficiency of their labors to answer the demands
of God, who requires perfect obedience and righteousness,
They will be taught, therefore, the necessity of the substitutionary
death of Christ to satisfy divine justice and put away sins and
bring in everlasting righteousness. When one truly believes on the
Lord Jesus Christ, their God-given faith is proof of a heart agreement
with the Word of God concerning their guilt and sinfulness and
their need of Christ Jesus, the only Savior, to save them from
their sins. That was from preacher Jim Bird.
And now a reading from Isaiah 14, 24. The Lord of hosts hath
sworn, saying, surely as I have thought, so shall it come to
pass. And as I have purposed, so shall
it stand. Thankfully so. Look and live. The Master says in John 3, 14-15,
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
the Son of Man be lifted up, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have eternal life. The allusion is to what
the Lord said to Moses. And the Lord said unto Moses,
make thee a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole. And it shall
come to pass that everyone that is bitten, when he looketh upon
it, shall live. Numbers 21.8. Here's a divine
remedy. that was provided against a national
calamity, a sovereign antidote against spreading mortal poison.
Those who were stung and perishing, though they were at the utmost
limits of the camp, might look up to the brazen serpent and
find health and life. Physicians were of no use in
that dreadful malady. Human efforts, applications,
plasters, or medicines were insignificant. The swift and fiery poison operated
powerfully in such as were bitten, and without relief, they were
quickly brought to the very borders of the grave. But though they
were just about to expire, if they could but cast a look towards
the appointed remedy, they were sure of healing and recovery.
On the confines of the grave and the brink of death, they
were restored to life and happiness by a look to that brazen image
of the serpent, a most lively picture, this of a believing
sinner. He is in himself as one ready
to perish, but being enabled to believe the promises of grace
in Jesus Christ and looking to him. Looking to him that he may
be saved. He is pardoned and healed He
is delivered from going down to the pit through the though
the through the ransom Which has been found and accepted for
him in the words of our blessed Redeemer himself He should not
perish but have everlasting life John 3 16. That was a preacher
John Fawcett Rest The master says the following in Matthew
11, 28, come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest. The rest that Christ gives is
a blessing of the covenant of grace, one bought with his blood
and apply to the hearts of anxious troubled souls by the spirit
of grace. What is this rest? Number one,
it is the rest of sins forgiven and washed away by the sin atoning
blood of Christ. Ephesians 1 7 the sins of God
people have been cast into the depths of the sea see Micah 7
19 hallelujah and removed from the very remembrance of God as
it is written from Hebrews 9 12 for I will be merciful to their
unrighteousness and their sins and their iniquities will I remember
no more Number two, it is the rest of knowing the law of God
has been satisfied by the Son of God. Christ is the end of
the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. Romans
10, four. The law can never accuse or condemn
any sinner for whom Christ died. The Savior honored the law in
his life and satisfied its every demand by his death. as evidenced by his exaltation. Number three, it is the rest
of a peaceful, non-accusing conscience. An accusing conscience given
by God to every person can only be truly quieted by the Holy
Spirit who convinces sinners that there is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8, 1. Thank you, Lord. Number four,
it is the rest of being assured that the righteousness God demands
has been established for us by the Savior's obedience unto death,
even the death of the cross. Philippians 2.9, for he, the
father, hath made him, the son, who knew no sin, to be sin for
us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2 Corinthians 5.21. Number five, It is the rest of having that
one who is the true Sabbath revealed to you and you consequently cease
from all your labors, works and efforts to appease God and rest
fully in Christ who is our Sabbath. There remaineth therefore a rest
to the people of God, Hebrews 4, 9. And finally, number six,
it is a present reality and a future promise. All who come to Christ
will find in him all that a needy sinner requires. This is a rest
we enjoy right now and one which we will enjoy perfectly throughout
the ages of eternity. Ye are completing him. Colossians
2 10. Oh, outstanding. That was from preacher Jim Bird.
The Blessed Formula of Spiritual Maturity. How can we expect God
to honor and bless our words or deeds until we learn in our
hearts the blessed formula of spiritual maturity? Whatsoever
ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Colossians 3 17 and whatsoever
you do do all to the glory of God first Corinthians 10 30 my
gifts my witness my prayers my Conversation my writings my preaching
and my singing are all so much flesh froth and foolishness unless
my motive is his glory and my claim for approval is in his
name and It has been proven countless times that success in religion
requires only a doctrine, a mouth, and some natural talents. But
the power and presence of God is only in the name of and for
the glory of his dear son." That was from preacher Henry Mahan.
And from 1 Peter 5, 7, he careth for you. For that child of God
who is laboring under some present distress, there are no words
sweeter than these, he careth for you, he cares for your soul,
he cares so much that he gave his only begotten son to redeem
you from sin and supply you with every spiritual need Surely,
if Jesus Christ died to redeem your soul from death, you must
know His great care. Not only is that so, the Lord
God tenderly cares for the bodies and the concerns of the lives
of His people. Do you believe that He cares?
Then cast your care upon the Lord. Are you troubled about
your sin? Cast it upon the Lord. Are you
troubled about some personal trial? Cast it upon the Lord. He was tempted at all points
like as we are. He is touched with the feeling
of our infirmities. He is able to help them that
believe. Go, therefore, with your heavy
burden to the throne of your merciful high priest. Cast your
burden there and find grace and mercy to help. in your time of
need. A reading from Psalm 119. Remember the word unto thy servant
upon which thou has caused me to hope. This is my comfort in
my affliction for thy word hath quickened me. It is good for
me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes. I know, O Lord, that thy judgments
are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. Let, I pray
thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort according to thy
word unto thy servant. It is written in Isaiah 45, 22,
where our Lord Jesus Christ commands, look unto me and be ye saved,
all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else. And the master says in Matthew
11, 28 through 30, come unto me, all you that labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you
and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall
find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden
is light. Friends it is imperative that
you flee to Christ Jesus today Not tomorrow for none of us are
promised another day on this earth Today is the day of salvation
Call upon the name of the Lord while he may be found and seek
him while he is near Only by being in Christ the ark of our
salvation May we be delivered from the fierce wrath of Almighty
God which is coming soon upon the wicked This about wraps up

His sleeping elect and draw multitudes of men, women, and children around
the world to His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our
