There is a change in this covenantal system where now we as God's people are not under law. We are under grace. And in that grace system, the consuming fire of God, while he still is a consuming fire, we don't have to fear that consuming fire because we have communion. That's why he says it. Look at verse 28. Wherefore, we receive in a kingdom which cannot be moved. Let us have grace. whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, for our God is a consuming fire.
