This sermon centers on the revelation of God's righteousness through the gospel, emphasizing that this divine attribute is hidden from human nature and can only be known through faith in Jesus Christ. It explains that because God is inherently righteous and holy, sinners must be clothed in Christ's righteousness to stand before Him and receive salvation. The message highlights that justification is a free gift of grace received by believing in the redemption provided through Christ's sacrificial death. Furthermore, it underscores the certainty of future judgment, where individuals will be judged either on their own merits leading to condemnation or on Christ's merits leading to eternal life. Ultimately, the preaching aims to direct listeners to trust in Christ alone for both present forgiveness and future hope.

Open your Bibles, if you would, to the book of Romans, chapter 1. We'll read verses 16 and 17. The name of the message is, God's Righteousness Revealed. Now, in the religious world of today, they don't talk much about the righteousness of God. As a matter of fact, we've talked to many people about it, and they do not know what it is. But without being clothed in the righteousness of Christ, we will never be in heaven. would never be in heaven. So think upon that as we look at this. And you know what's revealed we're gonna see today? You know what's revealed in the gospel? The righteousness of God. Oh my, okay, let's read verse 16 and 17.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. This is written by Paul. For it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein, look at this, is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith. As it is written, the just shall live by faith. Very important verse. Very important verse we see here that Paul was not ashamed to preach Christ. He's not ashamed because in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed. You know who that righteousness is? The Lord Jesus Christ. That's the one we hunger and thirst after God's righteousness. which means God's people hunger and thirst after Christ. Now the righteousness of God is revealed only in the gospel.

As it cannot be known by the light of nature, it cannot be known by the law of God, it's hidden from every man by nature, every man, woman, and child, the righteousness of God in our natural state is hidden from us. And it's hidden from all men and women, from the wise and the prudent, as well as the moral, as well as the religious of this world. If we're in our natural state, we are totally ignorant of the righteousness of God. And all of us believers were there, weren't we? Yeah.

And this righteousness of God is in Christ. and it can never be discovered, it must be revealed by the Holy Spirit of God. And praise God, he reveals it to us. And beloved, until the righteousness of God is revealed, it's impossible for a person to be saved. Until Christ is revealed to us, who is the righteousness of God, it's impossible for us to be saved. My, the object of saving faith is Christ. He's the one who's proclaimed in the gospel, isn't he? Oh, yes, he is.

My, and the basis, the basis of our faith is in Christ, who is the righteousness of God. And so through the gospel, through the preaching of the gospel, Right faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God in in the preaching of the gospel the Holy Spirit reveals the righteousness of God reveals Christ Isn't it wonderful? It's absolutely wonderful faith coming by hearing and hearing by the Word of God and the righteousness of God Again is revealed by the preaching of the gospel Paul said this when he declares the gospel of Christ, that the righteousness of God is from faith to faith. I'm one who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, and I proclaim it to lost sinners, and God gives them faith to believe, from faith to faith. Isn't that wonderful? And I'm given the same faith as everyone who's born again by the Holy Spirit of God, and that faith is in Christ Jesus, the living God, the one true living God.

Here are some things. that we need to understand. Number one, God is righteous. He's righteous. So in order for us to be in the presence of God, we must be made righteous. My. And righteousness is an attribute of God, beloved. It's essential to his being. Without it, he would not be God. So the fact of him being righteous is just as essential as the grace of God, the mercy of God, the love of God, the justice of God, all those things. It's part of his essential being.

God is righteous. God is holy. And in order for us to stand in the presence of the holy God of the universe, the righteous one, we must be clothed in Christ's righteousness. And God the Father is the one who puts that on all believers. It's wonderful. It's wonderful. All rational creatures, angels, men, righteous and wicked, declare that God is righteous. Listen to this. Psalm 97, verse 1 and 2. The Lord reigneth. Let the earth rejoice. Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Clouds and darkness are round about him. Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. So number one, God is righteous. He's right, number two. The gospel declares. The gospel of Christ declares. It's a declaration when it's being proclaimed. of God's righteousness. Listen to this.

Romans 3.22, Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely, there's that free and sovereign grace, by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

See, redemption's only in Christ. whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins, that's our sins, Christ is a sinless one, that are passed through the forbearance of God, to declare, I say at this time, his righteousness, his righteousness, God's righteousness, that he might be just and justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Isn't that wonderful? My so beloved God, we we rejoice to know that our God forgives sins that our God forgives sins my But he will not forgive our sin without the satisfaction of his justice Right, and how's that come? Oh? He forgives sin he forgives sin according to the riches of grace right, but it's in and through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and Oh my, the forgiveness of sins is the greatest act of grace this world has ever heard of or seen. Number three, in the day of judgment, God will give all men exactly that which is their righteous due.

My, listen to this. Paul was speaking at Mars Hill. And he spake these words, Acts 17, verses 31 to 34, because he hath appointed a day. God's appointed a day. There's a day coming. There's a great day coming, the old hymn used to say, right? He appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man, by Christ, by Christ, by that man whom he hath ordained. He hath given assurance unto all men, and that he hath raised them from the dead. So the fact that Christ was raised from the dead assures everyone, saved and lost, that God will judge. There's coming a great judgment, and it's appointed by God.

Listen to this. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked. Some said, what? Another said, we'll hear again of this matter. Oh, there's God's distinguishing grace, beloved. Some said, what? That can't be right. And others said, I want to hear more about this. I want to hear more about this.

So Paul departed from them. How about certain men claimed unto him, they were following him and they were talking to him, listen to this, and believed by the grace of God, by the mercy of God, they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, among whom was Dionysus, the hero Pagratae, and a woman named Demarius, and others with them.

Oh my, and you know what, think of this, those who stand before God to be judged upon their own merits, they will receive exactly what they deserve. They will receive eternal damnation. Oh my. But on the contrary, those who trust Christ, those who stand before God in Christ, will be judged upon the merits of Christ's obedience. Christ already died in our room and place, beloved. Oh my.

And because of Christ's obedience, they will not get what they deserve, which is hell. But they will hear God say. They will enter into the joy of my rest. Isn't that wonderful? All because of the perfect, sentient work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Oh my. They shall receive everlasting glory. because the very righteousness of God in Christ demands it. Amen and amen.
