How do we know God is just?

Answered in 18 sources

God's justice is affirmed throughout scripture, stating that He will not acquit the wicked, underscoring His righteous character (Nahum 1:3).

The justice of God is a fundamental attribute, clearly articulated in the Scriptures. Nahum 1:3 declares that 'The Lord will not at all acquit the wicked,' which reflects the truth that God is just and will ultimately punish sin. His justice operates in tandem with His mercy, not in opposition to it. Though God is slow to anger and longsuffering, He requires justice to be satisfied, which is evident at the cross where Christ bears the penalty for sin on behalf of His people. This assures us that God is both just and the Justifier of those who trust in Him (Romans 3:26).
