Why is being in Christ important for Christians?

Answered in 23 sources

Being in Christ is essential for Christians as it signifies our spiritual union with Him, from which flows all blessings and innovations of life.

The significance of being in Christ cannot be overstated within a Reformed understanding. It is through our union with Christ that we experience redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. As Paul explains, 'all spiritual blessings' are found in our position in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). Additionally, being in Christ means that we are partakers of His death and resurrection, which changes our relationship to sin and empowers us to lead lives that reflect His glory. This spiritual connection fosters genuine Christian fellowship, as believers are also united with one another in love and service, reflecting the body of Christ functioning as one.
