Why is the church important for Christians?

Answered in 5 sources

The church is vital for Christians as it represents the body of Christ and the means through which believers grow in faith and community.

The church holds paramount significance in the life of a believer as it serves as the physical embodiment of Christ on earth. Ephesians 1:22-23 teaches that the church is His body, with Christ as the head, signifying a deep connection between Christ and His people. The community of believers encourages spiritual growth, accountability, and the sharing of the gospel. Moreover, the church fulfills Christ's command to gather, worship, and support one another, thus thriving as a collective called out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). The assurance that Christ is building His church gives hope, as He states that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).
