Why is understanding our need for Christ important for Christians?

Understanding our absolute need for Christ is foundational in the life of a believer. It is through the realization of our spiritual famine—our inherent inability to sustain ourselves apart from Christ—that we come to Him for true nourishment. Just as the Egyptians were brought to the end of their resources and had to cry out for bread, believers must realize that apart from Christ, they are destitute.
